At 1440p and above you may not have bottleneck at all.
At 1080 you will have, but as long as you don’t seek for 2000fps, it’s ok.

Go for it.

I use the 5600x together with an RX7900XTX on resolution 3440x1440. Everything is fine and works very well!

thank you so much. :toast:.i am relived,i have a 3440x1440 display device too.

thank you . what you said was quite right.i guess no one buy such expensive card to run a 1080p screen for 2000fps. if there is no bottleneck at 1440p, 4070ti will be used in very long time for me.

Yes, your system will be very ideal for 1440p.

I would go for a 5800x or 5800x 3D. I had a 5600x & RTX 2080 ti (The 2080 ti's power plugged stopped working) & can feel certain areas in games, where it seems like my cpu just don't have enough threads/speed for some newer games. I would think a card two generations higher would benifit from a cpu bump. over all it should be fine for a while might feel bottlenecked later on.
I think the 16 threads count is a better settling point then "budget 12 thread" segment for later newer games.

At first 5800X and 5600X perform the same in gaming.
I don't think the 16 threads help in any game.
That's the worst case scenario.

The 5800X3D is better, obviously, and you can get one when you can.
But in no way the 5600X holds back a 4070Ti in 1440p.

in begining i have a cpu ryzen 2600. when i runed watchdogs 2 legion 's benchmark , its conclushion shows ,my cpu perfomance was too low. then i spent 1000CNY on 5600X upgrading my cpu. but finally, when i runed watchdogs 2 legion 's benchmark again, it still told me, my cpu is too low.
i guess the cpu single frequency is not the key of this upgrading , according to my situation, i guess upgrade 6 cores to 8 cores is mroe effciency than improve singe core frequency.

If the specific game says that a 5600X has low performance, then the game is broken or you have some heavy tasks running at the same time.

no way the 5600X holds back a 4070Ti in 1440p. i hope this is also suitable for me . thank you so much. i deicide buy a 4070ti first. btw 4070ti 's performance price ratio is reall bad . i dont know when the NV cut price on 4070ti.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
You're always leaving a little bit of your GPU performance on the table with cheaper CPUs but the difference between a 5600X and 13900KS is going to be negligible with a 4070Ti at 1440p ultrawide.

It's not worth worrying about, and you'd have to spend unreasonable amounts of money to gain even a small advantage - an advantage you'll struggle to notice without the aid of FPS counters and rapid A/B testing of the two different CPUs.

When Watchdog 2's benchmark says your CPU is too low, it's a dumb suggestion; Yes, the game seems to benefit from up to 12 real cores, but it's not like the game is unplayable on a 6-core CPU and honestly, the relatively small 15% difference between a 6C and 12C in this video testing CPU scaling in WD:L still only really affects 1080p low settings. At 1440p+ with higher settings you will be hitting GPU bottlenecks that have far more impact on your gaming than the choice of CPU

I wouldn't put much stock into the "low CPU performance" warning that the WD: Legion benchmark shows. Both runs below were performed with identical settings. 1080p with everything maxed out plus the UHD texture pack. RT, motion blur and MSAA were off:

3300x.jpg
5800x3d.jpg

The 5800X3D was using top-tier B-die RAM running at 1900 MHz 14-14-14. The 3300X was oc'd to 4.5 GHz and utilized mainstream Crucial memory at 1866 MHz 16-18-18. You'd expect a lot bigger difference between a budget Zen 2 quad and a much newer CPU made specifically for gaming, right? Yet, the game runs perfectly with the 4c/8t SKU.

And yes, both benchmarks concluded with "low CPU performance" :kookoo:

How about horizon zero dawn in 2560x1440 in my case (rx 6700 xt) im using my ryzen 5 5600 up to around 85% on all cores

You will get alot more fps with a ryzen 5800x 3d or 5900x

Not quite sure why my previous post was deleted but you may want to upgrade to the X3D later if you notice choppy game play in newer titles. here's a 12600K running 4k cyberpunk at 4k:

just saying +1 @DemonicRyzen666 's comment that in some areas game struggled with a 6 core - in that area i definitely felt the same way -- something that did get resolved with more cpu power and faster ram.

this thread just pinged on my notifications and that doesn't make sense after, presumably, some culling of posts?
