Absolutely no, and i would disagree if someone says that it's bad here, the problem is that some Members including some Mods the way that they react doesn't fit with this forum.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there, everyone has a different perception on how to run a forum, sometimes we are all right, sometimes wrong, often inconsistent.... hey that really is human nature! :D

While i do hold a valid MCP certificate and work in IT related job, previously i have applied in a Dublin Zoo, because of same reasons :)

Dude, you can't work in a Zoo with that tatoo of yours on back of your skull. U are gonna freak out lots of animals, homo sapiens included.

Research in Tiger Country indicates Tigers are reluctant to pounce when a face is showing preferring to attack from the rear ( no face showing)
Native's often now have faces painted/printed on garments rear facing

3) A client get's mad when I don't want to give any advice or fix anything that is older than my neighbors kid. Gets even madder when I reveal the best case scenario: "Throw this away and buy a new computer".

How old are your neighbours kids? I mean, if they're one and three, I can understand that your customers get upset, but if they're 23 and 44... :p

This is the least opinionated and well balanced forum I have ever found, I'm not an expert but I have always returned for the reviews, differing opinions to stoke the flames of thought, and while some members have tried to create drama and issues where none exists the mods have always been fair.

At least no one brings broken ZXSpectrums to me (though I probably wouldn't mind).

Lack of eye contact and no tonal quality makes internet communication like walking through a minefield.
Unfortunately people get awfully brave and stupid when they talk from behind a keyboard. A lot of those (actually very few on this forum) who speak so condescendingly wouldn't dream of doing it in person.

silentbogo, post: 3617792, member: 141875"]Now, you guys think it is bad here? Try real world.

Almost every day I get to deal with dumb people and all of these encounters come to the following few situations:

1) A person wants to buy a desktop/laptop/other stuff. They ask for professional advice, while they've already made a decision. It all comes to long and boring arguing until I either give up and agree (even though I disagree), or the person gets mad and buys whatever he/she decided regardless of my advice. This also relates to Intel/AMD/NVidia fanboys.
2) A person wants to fix something very new or really expensive, and after hearing the approximate repair price gets mad. Attempts to repair it at home, and ends up bringing it back to me to pay even more in order to fix the original problem, and the ones he created afterwards.
3) A client get's mad when I don't want to give any advice or fix anything that is older than my neighbors kid. Gets even madder when I reveal the best case scenario: "Throw this away and buy a new computer".
4) Know-it-alls , who dare to tell me how to do my job.

So, basically just like here on TPU, but sometimes there is some cash involved and you are almost always within a reach to slap a person (if required) :slap:

Now, back to OP.
It's not the TPU community , it's the way the world is. For some it takes a lot more effort to learn, than argue without actual arguments or facts.
Plus some of us get older and imminently will become those "grumpy old guys" that keep on babbling about "back in a day".
Mix both together - and you get an ultimate sandbox of madness.

I would charge them for advice, like a trip charge. If you feel they have made up their mind already charge them more for it

More like a constant flow Core2Duo and Turion II laptops.
I think I had to turn down at least 5 Dell Inspiron 5xxx and Vostro 15xx laptops just in the past 2 weeks or so...
Not many people understand that I can't invest several days and lots of effort to replace a screen, keyboard, touchpad, find a compatible charger that will not explode, do a cleanup and fix VGA output on something that is worth less (or simply worthless) than their 5y.o. chinese smartphone, or my monthly coffee expenses, or two medium pizzas they had last week...
... especially if I open it and I see rozin flux all over the motherboard...

The only old machine I had a courage to fix, was a HP Pavilion DV7, only because it was a well-preserved premium laptop from my best customer.

Not when vostro looks like this and needs multiple organ transplants and a plastic surgery:
IMAG1294.jpg

... and DV7 is shiny, has a 1600x900 screen, was fully upgraded to its max potential (CPU, RAM, SSD, 9600GT replaced with newer NV Quadro), and includes a BD-RW, 150W genuine power brick and some.
Just needed a routine maintenance, and some soldering on the captouch panel and a power putton. 30min of work, excluding testing.
