People tend to seek confirmation of whatever views they already hold and if they dont get it they tend to throw the toys out of the pram. The internet gives them the perfect vehicle to do this.

Most other tech sites and indeed most of the internet in general are worse than TPU.
So I would tend to concurr with the OP that admin (and mods) are doing an effective job of running the forums here.
That's my opinion anyway

Large forums, beginners forums, like this one, like Tom's, have a bigger problem than smaller ones from my experiences. Its why this isn't my home, but a place to see what the ' general populous' is thinking. The general knowledge on the smaller forums I frequent tend to have a more mature base, and more knowledge. Hell, this place barely understands overclocking and half the people's head explodes when they see LN2... right Frick?

Im serious though. This community is so solid that the idiots immediately stand out, the troll is identified within three or four posts, and most of them figure out quickly they have no place here.

my favorite example of this , is when a new member or seasoned, will create a thread asking for help in "looking for (insert item)" , and they then list a number of items they "like" or are leaning towards. then they proceed to shoot down Every post that suggests any option other than the one they had already made up in theyre minds before creating the thread, in essence , simply looking for another person to justify theyre choice......it reminds me of when my wife comes home from work, and says something like "this or that woman @ work today was a real bitch", or "this person doesnt work as hard as the rest of us"....and in my head i know FULL well, if i do ANYTHING other than say "theyre all terrible and your the best employee" im sleeping on the couch for a week w/ a "dry weiner" ... i hate fishing for Agreements/compliments...it isnt befitting of a self respecting human.....Dont you agree with me ??

TPU has become more and more toxic over the nearly ten years I have been hanging around it. But, so has every other forum I have seen. It's just a sign of the times. People have no tolerance, no respect for one another anymore. It's sad, but true.

That said, I still find most people here are still quite helpful. Mods here do a really good job of keeping forum trolls and general azzhats at bay. Much respect to them.

There are whole groups of members that believe one of the major players in the hardware world is altruistic and cares about them, not profits. Words don't even describe my reaction...it mystifies me.

There also groups of members which get regularly milked by one or two major players in the hardware world, defend them by any means possibly and constantly bash the opposition (even with made up facts).

I have been following TPU for a lot of years and only recently registered, however, I have been already dragged into countless pointless debates ... mainly because reading made up things bothers me. The time I take to prove people wrong could probably be spent better. I have already thought about stopping reading (and contributing in) the forums and news comments, because I will just constantly get dragged into this time consuming black hole, with no means to escape.

Don't get me wrong, the community here is great, it's just these (news) threads with clickbait titles which make people go ape, with me not being an exception

Anyways fanboys to me are great. They are advocates for a product/brand and are a marketers wet dream. Funny enough most do not even realize they are doing this which is amazing. Unknowingly they are pushing the agenda of the product/brand and get more people thinking and discussing that product whether positive or negative doesn't matter.
