Welp, i got this upgrading feeling, agian... and now its time for the major parts... Right now im running an opteron 144 at stock speeds, it can reach around 3ghz with a proper oc. I have had this cpu for the last year and a half now, and now i feel like its upgrade time. I am an AMD guy and would hate to go intel, but intel's new quad cores are looking very nice right about now. Anyone know how well those oc? If i were to get a c2q i would get the 6600 for 280$. I have been out of the loop for some time now, is dfi still one of the best ocing boards? I saw a nice dfi crossfire board on newegg for 140$ that will go nicely with the c2q. Also what would be a nice ram set for this? I would like atleast 2gigs of ram. Im use to ddr, not ddr2 so agian this is all new water for me. Anyone know of anything amd has to offer that can even compete with intel? i know amd is launching their new Phenom cpus, but i have the hunch that its going to just be play catch up, not raise the bar. I just got a new psu, hdd and gpu, so its time to finish off the rest of the system.

I have that CPU right now and I have it clocked 100% stable at 3GHz. I cant go higher because I got a damned B3 stepping and the temps are insane. If you get a G0, then thats different. They can get upwards of 3.6GHz. But, you might as well hold out as the new Penryn CPU's will be out in January and the Q9450 (12MB L2 cache, 1333FSB) will be $316! Thats what Im going for. So if you can, hold out.

I have a hunch that the Phenom chips arent going to be all that great. Its going to be like Barcelona. Thats my opinion. Not all that great. Xeon's are still faster.

    My $.02.
