Is it worth buying a pi5 with a broken hdmi connector. The seller says apart from that it is working .He is selling it for £42 which is about half the price of a new one.I have got one but unfortunately the conector for the fan has broken off:(I have a case that is passive cooled, but sad to say it does not work at all now.:( The tiny conector near the USB 2 ports is the one that broke off:(Those micro HDMI are terrible i don,t know why Raspberry pi don,t do away with them.:(

Raspberry Pi 5, 8GB RAM - 1 BROKEN HDMI - Picture 1 of 3

After asking my AI assistant I think i will give it a miss.
*If you are considering buying a Raspberry Pi 5 with a broken HDMI connector, it is generally not advisable. The HDMI ports are crucial for connecting the Raspberry Pi to a display, and a broken connector would significantly limit its usability.*

AI is right? Without an HDMI port, there won't be HDMI display capabilities. Go figure. Bravo AI!

What is the real question? Can you use it via SSH terminal? What's your use case? What's your question?

Can you be more clear about which one you are talking about?

The topic Pi with broken HDMI port? Or off-topic fan port Pi?
If the fan port Pi is in a passive case, why do you care about the fan port?

The Pi5 has two HDMI connectors one is broken, so it still has one
that is the one i was asking if it was worth buying.Sorry about the spelling
My one that has the fan conector broken off , and also has a couple of bent pins that
are not touching did not work in the passive case.My Pi3 is working fine photo 2617.
The one below is the eBay one i was asking if it was worth buying.I have come to the conclusion it isn,t. I put a bid on a new one for £50 but was turned down, i usually do well when i put in bids on there.I hope i have put the record straight. :)

Considering that it's not THAT expensive even when bought new, I wouldn't bother paying for a broken one. If that would be a freebie, then I would consider of fixing it, but paying for that... nah.

They are. But in a good case it can have some support from bending. When using the Pi bare, Mini HDMI, Mini USB and USB-C are all sensitive for breaking.
and use soft cables, not the harder that stresses the connectors.

That's the kind of deal that calls out to guys like me.
If you have a copy of the product and can swap out disks, probably a win.
If you can get display some other way like some NanoKVM device, epic win.
I run my servers headless and the only time I actually need a display out is for BIOS/EFI/Boot config.
I'm just finally getting around to the idea of once again adding a display device to the rack for 3DVR/Streaming.
If any of that sounds way over your pay grade, then definitely do not buy a damaged Pi.
If you have solid soldering skills (I'm gonna guess no) then it's a firm maybe.
