unless you plan on oc incl bigger spu, kinda overkill for this card.
this comes with 6 pcie plugs total, most likely another 2 cables in the box,
just run the 2nd one and use 1 plug each.

Thank you for your comments!

He took your word and it's working just fine for him now. He has begun testing and there isn't any issues and it's pulling 280w just fine!

Thank you!

I have the evga version of 3070Ti, and they say a min of 750w. Mine will take over 300w if conditions are right. You should be ok with 850. Don’t use both plugs from the daisy chained cable.. use 2 separate lines.

try it.

just counting 1+1 = less Watts than the PSU has is not how it works.

a 6900XT at 400W has transients strong enough to shutdown a PC with a 1000W PSU even if nothing else is under load.
ampere has by far not as bad transient spikes like RDNA2 and you should be fine.

then this is a manufacture/card issue.
unless i missed something, having transient issues (from gpu) that shut off the rig, is considered normal.

My brother only has 1 plug and not two but he has ordered one directly from Seasonic so he will be at ease when that arrives.

He has undervolted the chip and it did go from just over 300w down to 240w usage which is crazy good I think! But he will overclock when he receives his secondary cable.

then this is a manufacture/card issue.
unless i missed something, having transient issues (from gpu) that shut off the rig, is considered normal.
who said that this is normal?
you just can't say... my GPU pulls 400W, my CPU 150W and the rest of the system another 100W so i buy a 750W PSU to have a 100W headroom.

a normal non overclocked 3090 that runs on a sub 1V VCore spikes already in to 450-490W range.

with my older Corsair HX1000i i encountered a lot of freezes, crashes and reboots when my 6900XT Nitro+ ran at around 375W.
a Stock 6900XT Toxic (not the XTXH Variant) already spikes beyond a 3090.

This here is a 90µs transient and the average powerconsumption of a stock 6900XT. (From fcpowerup china)
up that from 300W to 350-400W (to actually be able to OC it) and you have 1200W+ spikes that can shut down even a brand new 1000W Titanium PSU.

That's rather scary.... How can a High Watt PSU freak out? Unless I heard you wrong...
Look at my system? I've only got a 650W? I have not encountered any issues though so I guess my rig is fine?!

By the way...GerKNG are you selling any RX 6700XT or RTX 3070 by any chance?

the smaller the node (while still throwning tons of amps into it) the worse are the spikes.
you can saturate a big PSU quite fast. (my 3080! FTW3 Ultra together with a 10900k already pulled over 700W constantly out of the wall just by playing a game.)
but in your case... don't worry as long as you don't have any stability problems you're fine.

sorry no sales :) they are my toys.

Okay that is a relief thank you!
You should replace your G6 with an Ifi Zen DAC V2 though... G6 was good but has shite soundstage.. MASSIVE upgrade on the cheap if you care for headphone gaming.

Other than that.. Not at all jealous of your setup my man!

My G6 seems to die anyways. (bought it in February or march and it already starts to sound like a speaker on a very weak battery that just makes some weird high and low pitched noises until i fully restart this thing.)
thanks for the suggestion i looked for DACs for a while now.

Thanks bro for opening this post on my behalf :D

My 3070 Ti is running just fine on a single 8x8 daisy chain cable, although I have two 8 pin cables inbound which I will use after I receive them later in the week.
I've managed to under volt the card nicely anyway, drawing no more than 220w or so it would appear via the MSI afterburner statistics.

I no longer like my G6 >.> anyway.

sorry, should have worded it differently.
i meant "normal" as in expected changes going from no-load to load etc on a non/mild tweaked card,
not those extreme spikes you listed.

e.g out of the box, no card should be problematic to run, no matter if looking at (quality) psu or the gpu,
excluding those top 1% stuff like kingpin/lightning etc.

Howdy guys and gals!

My brother is looking to get himself an RTX 3070 TI " https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/GeForce-RTX-3070-Ti-GAMING-X-TRIO-8G "
and he is concerned if his current PSU will do the job " https://www.eteknix.com/seasonic-m12ii-bronze-evo-edition-850w-power-supply-review/ " 850w model.

His main concern is that he only has an 8 x 8 daisy chained cable. Is this enough to power the new GPU or will he need to get another 8pin cable?
His current GPU is a GTX 1080.

Thank you!
Was running a 10900k (highly oced) + 3090 (highly oced) on an 850w PSU (granted, it was the hx850i platinum but still). I don't think the PC will draw more than 500watts in gaming, so he is good to go.

Regarding the cables, I would personally use 2. Didn't the PSU come with more pcie cables?

Correct, the PSU did indeed come with four cables IIRC, however I had moved abroad recently and left my extra storage boxes behind, and no way to access them until I return, but it's grand now as I should receive two cables in the mail tomorrow.
