Hi I've been getting some help building a computer and I want to know if my logic is making snese with
regards to the components i have picked,

Here is what I want:
* a stable intel system without bugs so i go for intel coffe lake CPU I7 8700 (non OC)
* a quiet work computer for photoshop and some video editing.
* quiet low watt system at IDLE, so i go for an older CPU like I7 8700 over the I9 models since i9 draw more power at Idle or when doing basic writing work.
* a CPU that has low TDP / does not overheat too much under max load: So i choose i7 8700 65W and Noctua D15 cooler.
* to begin with, I jus want to use integrated graphics for photoshop and HD video editing in Camtasia.
- I7 8700 Has UHDGraphics630 1200MHz. Later i can get GPU, but i don't want GPU eating
away power and making fan noise at Idle when I don't need it.

* Motherboard:; I want a motherboard that runs intel smoothly and has 6 PWM fan headers so i choose z370-A Pro MSI
*SSD : I want Samsung MZ-V7S500BW 970 EVO Plus 500 GB for faster speed, I can add a second one later when i have the budget,
* RAM: I7 8700 supports 2666MHz but motherboard supports 4000MHz so I can choose whatever I want and CPU and mb will run smooth as
long as motherboard supports it
* PSU: CORSAIR RM650W because it has fans turned off at IDLE and 650W would allow me to add GPU later or upgrade CPU.

CPU cooler: be quiet dark rock 4 pro: because i want my system to be as quiet as possible.

Is this looking alright?

My final question;
Given my needs / wishes, would it make more sense to get i9 processors for the price with integrated graphics
or is a i7 8700 more than enough?

you would benefit from 32gb"if the board supports it" of ram as with vid ed you can never have enough.

The “new” 9th gen are the same as the 8th gen. There’s no change. May as well get those if you want a new build.

Also, what’s wrong with an AMD build in this instance? They too have a 65w chip that your workload would benefit from. Extra cores and threads are nice to have. I understand about the graphics, but you could always grab a cheap monitor driver that doesn’t necessarily have to be amazing.

If its only for work, go AMD.
More cores same wattage, and cheap bords and whatnot.

I'm going to be that guy. If you want that PC to be quiet and stable, and you want that PC now, Intel is your guy. Matisse behaves very, very differently from Pinnacle Ridge, and AMD still needs time to work out AGESA 100%. Their "65w" is complete horseshit, because PB2 is screwing with the very concept of a traditional 65w CPU. At the very most, grab a Ryzen 3600 and a board with good fan control, and hope that less cores, less clocks and less TDP can save the day. Maybe your D15 would be able to keep a 3600 under control relatively well.

Alao, remember that while B450 will work with a BIOS update (save for MAX, which just works) with Ryzen 3000 and will be the best value for 3600/3600X, X570 offers the only assured experience. In some cases, cheaper and shittier B450 boards can prevent you from leveraging the better memory compatibility offered by Ryzen 3000's new IMC.

Since you are doing light work that could benefit from HT, and hate noisy and unstable idle, Matisse just really sounds like it isn't for you. It will boost to 1.5V perpetually on light loads, and there's nothing you can do about it. Spectre is really not as big a deal for the average layman as people make it out to be, and the 8700 is not as slow as people make it out to be. It'll get your job done.

For people seriously interested in working with Ryzen 3000, it would be worthwhile to wait for B550.

Also, there's the consideration that you'd need to buy a GPU that you don't actually need with AMD, since no iGPU.

Acutually, I think the iCPU intel i7 8700 Might be good enough? I could of course get 9th generation intel (considering the high price for a 8700) but is it nessecery for the work i will do? and if the i7 8700 delivers quiet, low IDLE wattage and heat I'm happy. I think a fast SSD, 32GB Ram will be good enough and...Stable! :)

9900 with a high end air cooler will be very quiet at idle (and even load).

At idle/basic usage the power draw will be very similar between the two chips, and even my OC'd 7820x system is virtually silent at idle and low loads when im doing coding work (when I start hammering at it with data/gaming it gets louder).

8700 isn't very quick, a 9900 with a high quality air cooler (like the dark rock) is the way to go.

Your case will also matter quite a bit as the airflow and venting will determine how much you hear (or dont).

^ they recommend a silent case in this one.

The 9th series K models could actually be better regarding cooling because of the soldered ihs but again the price has something to say as well :) but here a 9900 and 9900k is the same price sooo...

Why is a 9900 being recommended when the load is so light a 6700k would be fine?

Steer clear of the 9900 unless you have money you don't know what to do with?

Forgot to mention: Matisse is currently being a bitch, but Pinnacle Ridge isn't. Ryzen 2000 doesn't share any of the 7nm woes, and is currently in the midst of massive price cuts. Board compatibility is 100% with B450, as well. You'll just have to make do with a bit more pick and choose when it comes to RAM that works, but you would too if you paired 3600 with B450, so you really aren't losing anything.

For your needs a 2700X would do splendidly. Even a 2700 might work well; you aren't gaming so you don't care about the single threaded hit, and the 65W TDP is a plus for you. All you need to do is find a GPU that works for you and your needs, chances are, you'll still end up spending less money than with Intel.

With a 9900, the problem is not with performance, it's how much you want to spend. It's not cheap, and neither is a Z390 board. I'm sure you could tame a 9900 just fine with a Dark Rock or D15.

I have both a 9900k (5ghz) and 3900X (stock) system and they both run cool and quiet at idle and during gaming. I guess if you really cheap out or go with stock cooling this may be an issue but my fans never spin up at all unless running something like blender for a long ass time. The GPU is literally the only thing you hear in either of my systems. The h150i pro I run the fans at 600 rpm and it easily cools the 9900k at idle and gaming. The 3900X is cooled by a h115i platinum I run the fans at 800 rpm and it keeps the CPU very cool during light tasks and gaming.... Both cases have 3 intake and 3 exhaust fans running at less than 40% at all times. Neither of my cases are known for being good at cooling and both handle high end components no problem once high quality fans are swapped in.

I think you're over thinking all this just buy what you want and build around it with above average cooling and high quality fans and you'll be golden. Just make sure you have full fan control with something like the corsair commander pro.

This was a good video: Let mere share some notes from the video for those who are interested. All i need to find are the Decibel Levels,
but that requires you run the same RPM,

Colermaster H500P mesh
- best unmodefied CPU thermals
- CPU Torture chart: 3rd place
- Gets Thermals awards.
Stress temperature test (stock fans)
CPU: 26.4 C
GPU: 49.3 C

Coolermaster SL600m stock
- Best GPU thermals
- suffers in CPU thermals with large GPU installed as they seal the CPU department for intake,
* wins visual design
* Stress test (stock fans)
-CPU TEMP:34.9
-GPU temp:46.3

LI am li o11 air
- 2nd place award IF dust filter is removed!
*also wins Best visual design

Most Quiet Case
Dark base pro 900 v2

* Better thermals and temperatures than Be Quiet and good bild quality
* It's predesessor (DBP 900 1?) is just as great and
* it has shrouds for cable management (the old model does not)
Stress test (stock fans)
CPU: 31.6 C
GPU: 48.8 C

Best budget case
* NZXT H500
* preforms quite well thermally with air intake filters (case uses stock negative pressure setup that works well)
* easy cable management
* Stress test
- CPU temp: 34 C
- GPU temp:54.5 C

Best All-around case
Liam Li o11 Dynamic
*meant for liquid cooling,
* Adding 3 side intake fans allows for overall thermal profile
* you can have negative pressure pull air in at bottom to cool GPU (how would that look?)
is it a fan in bottom pulling in air?

Cases are pretty simple:

Good airflow = less noise.
More fans does not necessarily mean more air flow.
Smaller cases will be more likely to have poorer airflow but not always.

The trouble is finding objective information to the above points.

I think that is right; Why would i need a 9900 for? Photoshop and camtasia and general content creation? If i get a motherboard like z370-A Pro MSI or H370 Pro carbon (was recommended this over z370 from previous post on motherboards) i could always replace the i7 8700 with a newer one :)

Acoustically it won't as big of a difference. Your cooler will be able to handle even a 9900k very quietly same as an 8700 - unless you're going completely passive where every watt matters, it's not a worthwhile stepdown. It will speed you up a bit due to higher cache and clockrates + 2 more cores, and is more future proof for some additional $$ now.

It's totally up to you. I would at least bump up to the 8700k or 9700k because 1) i think it would be faster with boost for your daily work for very little $$, and 2) have a better resale value than the 8700 when you go to sell it and get something else and 3) will make no audible difference with a dark rock pro strapped to it.

My personal opinion

Colermaster H500P mesh
Overpriced when you can get the similar H500 from cooler master. I would get the phanteks P600s and open up the front and top mesh panels and have the better phanteks fans. I find cooler master fans to be noisy and mediocre.

Coolermaster SL600m stock
Dark base pro 900 v2

Phanteks P600s and keep the front and top panels in place.

LI am li o11 air

Interesting case but limits air cooler to 155mm, not too many good air coolers are that small including your Dark Rock Pro 4 which is porbably around 165mm

NZXT H500

get the H510, it's cheaper and you get the USB-C port

Actually the cheapest price i can get on a i7 8700 (Non OC) at the moment is $371,53 (Scandinavian) so It's not far in price from a 9700 or 9900, and I can get a cheap deal on a 9700K at the moment, but I don't really Overclock and don't want to so would it make sense to get a 9700K over 9700 non k even if i can get a really cheap deal for the 9700K? Does a 9700K draw more power than a 9700 non OC if the 9700K is not overclocked? Are they basically identical if 9700K is not overclocked?
They 8700 has 12 threads, don't know if that is better than 8 thread 9700, prices are about the same.

In photoshop the 9700 k is faster, in gaming the 8700k is better as the last microcode update induced stuttering in some games for the 9700k.

Typically the K series are a bit better binned than the non-k and at stock the difference in power is negligible. K series will let you overclock/undervolt with a bit more freedom and hold their value better over time.

"The Core i9 9900/K is approximately 20% more expensive than the Core i7 8700K, but in exchange we saw a 15-20% performance increase in Photoshop. With higher-end hardware, it is actually rare to see such a close relationship between an increase in price and the performance gained, which makes the Core i9 9900K excellent for heavy Photoshop users"

The 9900 / K is actually the best of both worlds if you do gaming - it can eat some power but nothing that the Dark Rock pro can't handle while maintaining silence. But the 9700k is a really great chip for your needs. Cool, fast, the same price as the 8700k...

EDIT: It runs COOLER than an 8700k actually: - it lacks HT and has a Soldered IHS instead of the intel toothpaste that the 8700k uses.

if you can get a cheap 9700K jump on it - 12% faster than 8700k in photochop, cooler, and same price/cheaper? easy deal.

I appreciate all your comments and support, it really helps me (and sometimes confuses me haha - regarding all the choices!) :)
I want to get something together so i can get a workstation pc ASAP.
My budget is around $1000-1200 (i should have mentioned that)

Components im 100% sure of:
HDD:
Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD (MZ-V7E1T0BW) NVMe M.2

Components I'm 50% sure of
GPU:
for intel and video editing Rx570
QUIET PSU:
CORSAIR RMX White Series (2018), RM750x, 750 Watt, 80+ Gold Certified, (fanless during normal use): I don't know much about PSU's and if the cables are long enought for the case etc, but I want it to be quiet at
CPU: i7 8700 Coffe Lake Still debating the Intel 9900 (without a K since i don't overclock)
CASE: Panteks p600s (the only downside is the weight + weak magnets for side panels so you can't screw on sides if you want to carry your case so they might fall off)
What I'm still debating:
Motherboard: MSI H370 Pro Carbon: provided i can turn off LED lights on MB and that
it supports Turbo boost on Intel i7 8700. It only up to 2666MHZ ram, and the reviews on amazon look a bit frightening (defect motherboards and failed ram slots), but
I was recommended it over MSI z370-a-Pro bracause it has better audio, VRM, USB 3.1, USB-C. I was told it's Intel generation 9 ready, but I wonder if It would be a good idea to put a i9 9900 on that board in the future?

RAM: The Motherboard only supports: 2666/ 2400/ 2133 MHz so i guess i will have to find a good 2666 Block.

Does it make sense? Will it work well for a workstation: photosho and video editing., If you have a suggestion for a different motherboard let me know.

@OP, Where do you live Pal?
I'm living in Denmark (scandinavian!)

Look for a card with idle fan stop, most custom cards, have it. It will stop your GPU fans from spinning if the temperature is <60ºC.
Thank you! I googled it and saw a lot of people freaking out about "HELP My GPU fans arent working when i boot up PC" lol It's called idle fan stop <60C
think a MSI RX perhaps 570 should work for photoshop, video editing and quiet work station :)
