I have a phenom 9500 (tlb patch off, no OC) and a radeon hd 3870 (its oced to 800mhz/1170 by factory default) and right now I'm getting 12fps on crysis at best..only at 1280x1024 at high...the odd thing is even if I turn down the graphics to insanely down to 800x600 and everything low, I still max out at 15 fps (at best:wtf:) Im running on Vista Ult. 64-bit, and on CCC 8.11 (8.12 wouldnt work on my system for some reason) I have a 700w PSU and 6gb of ram going right now at 800mhz)......... (its kinda pissing me off, I can go and play COD4 with everything maxed out with over 100fps lol) Also, for no reason my FPS when playing CSS will dip down to below 20 (my old P4 3.2ghz could get over 60fps on it :mad:) Any suggestions....:banghead:

Meh you got something wrong somewhere and it isn't the cpu nor your graphics card.

My brother plays Crysis on 1024x768 on a 17" monitor on an AMD Sempron 2Ghz, 1GB RAM, on low/medium settings 8600GTS 256MB and the game still runs smooth.
And you say you put it 800x600 and everything low and don't get more than 15fps on your rig?

And defragment your hard disk, and make sure you don't have background processes like an antivirus scan or antispyware scan running while you're gaming. Also disable your vista sidebar - that can take up a lot of resources depending on what gadgets you got.

Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled and, get this....15FPS OMG (on high, 1280x1024, no AA...) and on 800x600, everything low 30 FPS!!!OMG!!! AMD YOURE SO COOL!!!! maybe when they can actually make a worthwile CPU and Graphics card that can actually do what you pay for without making over 10 revisions to drivers that are *supposed to* make it work will I buy ATI/AMD again... (im dling the demo, but EA's so cheap they only have a 300kbs upload cap, lol) i wouldnt doubt if the demo itself had an "activation key" or will only let you install it 3 times without dling a different one...no wonder why everyone pirates them....:mad:

Maybe you just have so much shit on your computer that, its not any issues with CPU/GFX Card scaling. Too many processes, or just to much shit running in general. Before you deem anything garbage. I suggest you do a clean install before you make that decision.

53 processes on idle, 36% RAM being used and CPU at 7% while I'm typing this...most likely driver issue....btw, a while ago i dled AMD overdrive, apparently it doesnt work for vista ult (at least x64) Im tring to dl 8.12 but i doubt it will fix anything....(demo is still 300kbs cheapass EA :wtf:)

Now you're starting to troll. Kill the processes, 53 is way to many.

9500 with no OC and your complaining about performance...FFS, crysis is a crapply optimized game. Crysis warhead is much better.

HD3870 and Crysis did NOT play well for me either. I couldn't even get the game to run with it. I kept getting artifacts. Honestly though, close some of the background programs and see if it helps.

Chill man it's not AMD/ATIs fault something is not right with your pc not the video card/CPU like the are saying try defrag how much space is on your harddrive? You could try updating drivers..I know pcs with lower specs than that than run crysis faster than 15 fps

Try the following - it will automatically kill all extra processes (including Kasperski) just for that login session (So you don't need to uninstall your antivirus or anything just now). Check your fps. If they increase, it's definitely a process issue.

If you use Windows Vista
To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps.

1. Click Start
Type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, start the game or program and check whether the problem is resolved.

If you use Windows XP
To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows XP, follow these steps.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK.
3. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
4. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes:
* Process SYSTEM.INI File
* Process WIN.INI File
* Load Startup Items
5. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
6. Click OK.
7. When you are prompted, click Restart.
8. After the computer starts, start the game or program and check whether the problem is resolved.

meh on that test, i average around 12 or 13fps... id take the test and post it right now but its 5:00am so maybe tomorrow...anyways i might RMA it lol, performance is HORRIBLE on just about everything...ffs i get better fps on COD4 than cs:s (i average 25 fps on it..:wtf:) it might be visiontek for all i know, they are a pretty small company and ive heard of cards like mine having problems because of the factory OC that comes with it :mad:(777mhz to 800 core OC and around 1100 to 1200 RAM OC...) even considering that, im very dissapointed with ATI and whoever else made my card...you expect them to get it right when you pay them over $200 just for a graphics card:ohwell:... :( for ati (although no matter what, id always buy 4870 x2 instead of an overpriced geforce gtx 280 anyday:respect:)

meh on that test, i average around 12 or 13fps... id take the test and post it right now but its 5:00am so maybe tomorrow...anyways i might RMA it lol, performance is HORRIBLE on just about everything...ffs i get better fps on COD4 than cs:s (i average 25 fps on it..:wtf:) it might be visiontek for all i know, they are a pretty small company and ive heard of cards like mine having problems because of the factory OC that comes with it :mad:(777mhz to 800 core OC and around 1100 to 1200 RAM OC...) even considering that, im very dissapointed with ATI and whoever else made my card...you expect them to get it right when you pay them over $200 just for a graphics card:ohwell:... :( for ati (although no matter what, id always buy 4870 x2 instead of an overpriced geforce gtx 280 anyday:respect:)

Your problem is not hardware related, its software related. e.g. drivers, bad user configurations, unwanted services etc. I didn't read your previous posts, but I would advise that you do a fresh re-format of windows if you haven't already.

My system is weaker than yours AMD Athlon 3800 X2+ @ 2.8 GHz with 9600 GT.

I'm capable of playing COD:WAW at a frame rate between 65 FPS - 90 FPS with full graphics, 4x AA, 8x AF, 1440x900. CSS should achieve better FPS.

Throwing more money at the issue isn't the way forward, buying a ATI 4870 X2 may fix your issue but its money wasted as you shouldn't have this issue anyways. Likewise RMA'ing the video card isn't fixing the issue at hand.

Grant64330,

I'm speechless.

This proves that your CPU is fine, it isn't bottlenecking you :)

Your ATI 3870 is definitely faulty, if you can get your money back I'd advise that you buy a cheap ATI 4380 for $99 or a 4850 for $150.

The Nvidia equivalent would be the 9800 GTX+ which is about $150 ish.

Edit:

What score do you get in 3Dmark 06 with the ATI 3870 and Nvidia 8600GS?

i got 3dmark 06....my score is 87413dmarks at no AA, 1280x1024, optimal graphics settings...honestly =(

(im gonna upload a photo of all teh settings to photobucket, give me a min XD)

If you ran it at default settings, no need for images as I know the default parameters. I only run it at default so I can get a good comparison.

A score of 8741 for the ATI 3870 isn't bad. Its a average score. I score around 9,000 with my 9600 GT which is only slightly faster than your 3870, so your on track :)

No doubt with a slight overclock of your AMD Phenom 9500 you could get over 10k easily. (not saying you are bottlenecked because you are not!)
