Hi all!

I've recently acquired this card called INNO3D RTX 2070 Super TWIN X2. Due to some problems I encountered, I'm starting to question the identity of the card.

The fan starts to ramp up when gaming, but after closing the game, it doesn't stop going down. Of course I've tried to use MSI Afterburner to manage it with custom fan curve, but it only affects the "main" fan; thus I came to the conclusion that the fan making this noise, is not the GPU die fan itself, but the memory fan.

So I started to lookup the BIOS version and DeviceID but couldn't find any matching BIOS [1] and DeviceID [2]

I've only found this one on the unverified uploads [3] however, this one has 240W max, but mine has 215W [4] (checking with nvidia-smi). Now I'm honestly confused.

Can anyone shed some light on this matter?

The BIOS you linked has power limit of 215w and may be pushed by 12 percent to 240w with MSI Afterburner. Probably identical to your card.

If you want to verify your card is kosher, run 3DMark and compare the result with a similar PC and specification in the database.

As you said, once pushing it to 111% it's on 240W, so this might be good then.

If you want to verify your card is kosher, run 3DMark and compare the result with a similar PC and specification in the database.

Which one to run? I see there's 4 free ones via Steam, is there a preferred one? (Time Spy, Night Raid, Fire Strike, Sky Diver)
Edit: I found that the free one is available on the guru3d website. Downloading now...

as far as I know, in MSI afterburner, the custom curve of the 2 fans are controlled independently, you might have neglected it

How to see that? I can only set one curve:
I’m pretty sure that option is only available in EVGA Precision XOC. I’ve not seen it in Afterburner either.

Is this your card? http://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=397

Not sure why you think it isn't legitimate. TPU's BIOS DB is mostly user uploads, so it's quite possible that nobody with your card model has uploaded a BIOS yet. Having a different BIOS version to every other vendor is also not cause for concern, as the different customisations that each vendor applies will necessarily result in different versions.

Instead of running FireStrike try TimeSpy and compare to: https://www.hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/133664-inno3d-geforce-rtx-2070-super-twin-x2-oc/?page=3

The fan starts to ramp up when gaming, but after closing the game, it doesn't stop going down.

In other words, one of the fans doesn't return to idle once you exit the game? Sounds like a buggy BIOS to me, unfortunately Inno3D doesn't seem to have a "download BIOS" section on their website, I'd contact their support and ask them for an updated BIOS.

I'll download that one and see what it says.

Your graphics card is working perfectly.
:)

Yes, so I thought it'd be my card as well, but it doesn't have the DVI slot. So that made me confused as well.
Edit: btw, the one you referenced is the 2070 (non-super); mine is this one http://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=481 I might've overlooked the same thing as you just did (re: "Super")

I did that and it seems to run nicely. Got around 9000 points (off the top of my head, I'm currently not at my pc. Will edit this post to add the link)

Yes this is it. Oke, I'll contact them

As several have said already, your Firestrike score is fine, and I don’t see anything wrong. Could it be higher? Sure. But I don’t see a need for it.

Okay, so, I have a 2070 Super, that's good then. Last question remains; How to get rid of the high fan rpm in idle after high load?
I'll contact INNO3D and report back...

I’m pretty sure that option is only available in EVGA Precision XOC. I’ve not seen it in Afterburner either.

I've just installed EVGA Precision X1 (latest version of their tool), and I see the two fan controllers.
They even seem to work. At least the first fan does go on and off when I change the values, BUT the second fan only goes ON. Can't get it to turn off anymore after it's been 100%. Not even a little down.

As @Assimilator said, it might be a BIOS issue. See what Inno3D can send you.

Until Inno3D replies, is there a chance this can be fixed by flashing the bios to another card with the same ports and dual fan?

If Inno3D can't help, you could disassemble the card and wire the two fans together so they work off the one plug.

Hi all, just to report back. I've been in contact with Inno3D, i.e. I've send them an inquiry about the issue I have and requested support and got one message from them:

Firstly, thank you for your kind support of our product.

Do you install any other VGA oc software as well ?( e.g from asus, msi, gigabyte, evga)

If yes, please uninstall the program

After this I've replied that the problem persists when uninstalling these tools (as I had MSI Afterburner installed), and asked if it'd be possible to get a BIOS update. I didn't get a reply anymore. I tried to send them another message stating the same (through their website), but to no avail.

Do you have any other option? I'm kinda fed up with the noise, and having to reboot my system after doing something GPU intensive...

You can try crossflashing to another card by following this guide. It was the solution for some other people in this thread.

Crossflashing to ASUS RTX 2070 Super seems to be working with a small price according to this user.
