Yes, any GPU that uses PCI e will run at almost any motherboard from the past 14 years, the thing is you are being bottlenecked by the CPU options you can upgrade to on that board, 6C/6T or 8C/8T won't do justice for such a monster as the 3080 & the i9 9900 is a stupid decision rn, so the best thing you can do is to get a B550 or a B460 and get at least a Ryzen 7 (wait for Zen 3) (8C/16T) or an i7 10700.
Otherwise you can just wait and get a 3060 with a 10th gen i5 or a Ryzen 5 4600.

I have never get a Bday gift of 1500 Euro.
Well considering they are RRP of $499 and $699 then you're kinda a little bit out compared to his planned upgrade..

Your motherboard has support upto a 9900k apparently, but honestly.... you're thinking of throwing a $500-$700 GPU into that thing, what is the rest of your system specs, that board is pretty much low end so I can't imagine you having a 9900k in it, and I'd be more worried about if the CPU in it can feed a RTX 3080 or the PSU can even power one before I contemplate spending 2x as much on the GPU as the wholse system could be worth, list your system specs.

I really wouldnt touch that board with anything more than a 65w processor

The 9900k in that motherboard would be a waste, that motherboard cant overclock the processor.

H310 is a chipset that only has 12lanes. so yes it will be a limiting factor especially if you plain to pair your GPU with a nvme drive in the future. luckily H370 has 20 lanes and shouldn't cost too much more. in terms of the CPU the i7-8700 should be more then enough and likely a cheaper alternative to the i5-10600.

I'm a little concerned that a budget i3 system like yours may also be paired with a rather average PSU, so take that into consideration too

P.S. Welcome to TPU! Don't forget to fill in your system specs under your account!

Great point there, @thatawkwardaussie.
650W for the 3070, 750 for the 3080/90.
A high quality 80+ certified PSU from a good well known manufacturer.

I got a corsair 80+ Bronze i believe. Im definetly upgrading my CPU to a i5-9600kf hexa core. I just wanst sure about the Mobo, GPU is a little down the track.

Currently im running a 7th gen i3
not sure on the ram (its a prebuilt)
Stock Cooler
1050ti
80+ bronze PSU with 1.5 tb storage

i mainly play GTAV (FiveM)
and a little fortnite, Im looking to get into some editing of photos and videos.

If you're not going to change the motherboard, I would suggest getting a 9400f or 9700f since 9600kf won't be overclockable on that board.

RAM-speed will be a limiting factor. The fastest I would pair with that MB is a 9400F and maybe a Geforce 3060 when they arrive and find som cheap good ram like Crucial Ballistix 3200cl16 that you can run at very low timings to compensate for lack of speed.

If you use a 4K-monitor then ramspeed and CPU won`t affect performance in most scenarios, but with a 1080\1440p-monitor your ramspeed\CPU would be a huge bottleneck.

If you plan on getting a 3080 after all I would consider waiting a month for Zen 4 and buy a cheap B550-board and something like a Ryzen 5 4600 :)

What ram you got? Getting a cheap Z390 MB can make a large different if you have descent ram than can OC and also OC you CPU. Getting a 3060ti or 3070 now is terrible both pricewise and stockwise. 6700XT seems like the best option atm, but things will be better in a few months hopefully.

What brand/speed? If it's Samsung B-die, Micron E/B or Hynix C/D keep it and overclock it to 4000+ :)
