is my PSU dead?

so i have an old SeaSonic Platinum 1000W
i plugged in my PSU after adding a fan to the case and no power light LEDs show up... at all.... not from mobo not from GPU.. i checked the wires and removed and reinstalled them.... still nothing... i had to move the case on each side to install the fan because its a fan near the psu...... on the bottom.... i dont know if i knicked something or if moving the case around blew something inside, i just want to know if its dead, i can buy another one i just want it confirmed

i ordered it
but i really cantwait so i got a new psu anyways, i fix pcs anyways so that tool will come in handy

the seasonic platinum i have is from 2012 but i ordered a new model 1050W platinum seasonic... will it be more reliable?

Well you sure your "old" one still isn't under Warranty? I have an X-1050 Gold and well it has a 5yr warranty on it and in fact it has been RMA'd once as it just up and died on me.

Then you also know that the tester will show good even with w blown PSU.

so the psu was good all along, somehow my motherboard got fried during the installation of my fuckin fan.

i tested the old psu on 4 different motherboards mine, my backup (both failed so i was like did even my new psu come DOA) but then!!! i tested it on my old dell dimension 3000, it powered up immediately, and then my first p67 mobo mini atx powered up aswel....

so I plan on buying a new setup
ASRock Z77 OC Formula --> ASRock Z170 OC Formula
32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3-1600 --> 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-3000
Intel Core i7-3770K --> Intel Core i7-6700K

What performance increases will I expect?
also if anyone has any amazon gift cards that could help me replace my fried mobo would be nice!! <-- joke though... will be about a month or 2 before I can afford it

Get some gskill ram, its the best bang for the buck.

Also, what killed your motherboard? Did you still order a new power supply? You wouldnt want your new board to die in the same way.

Wait for the PSU tester to turn up to confirm which part is broken first, the PSU or the Motherboard, unless you are set on a new system.
Also a comparison for you to ponder.

Unless you need the latest and greatest thing, I would go for a 4790K

i know for a fact its not the psu i tested it on 4 mobos it worked on 2 of them

Hello, i m sure this is normal. Could be a relay/air gap swith. My BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro11 does the same sound and mine is definitively not broken. But first i was afraid too. So i contactet BQ support. They told me that ist normal.
