I'm guessing the 3090 is just a rebranded, cheaper titan. It seems NVIDIA is trying to rename their super high end product stack with them not using the Quadro branding anymore. Though I could be proven wrong in the coming months

There are Ampere Quadros, pretty sure.

Well the A100 that’s actually TSMC nm but I saw the specs earlier today and it’s completely different animal

Quadros are supposed to be a completely different animal. They have a completely different use case scenario (basically, restore double precision at all costs).

Its not a Titan, the 3090 is a 100% gaming card and special made for gaming.

They technically could push a completely uncut die and call it a Titan. There still is some small parts disabled on the 3090. I would not bet on it though. I think that's their "super reserve" and they won't use it unless challenged.

Not anything using double precision.

So not 3D / post production but scientific / engineering sectors like Solidworks... I wonder how those users feel about Quadro being retired and the new 48GB lineup considering the new entry level looks to cost an arm and both legs :/

Its not a Titan, the 3090 is a 100% gaming card and special made for gaming.

Its not a Titan but it might end up being the best replacement nVidia are offering... and its absolutely not 100% a gaming card. That should be obvious from the pricing and marginal performance gain, yet there are still dumb gamers out there who believe marketing & think maybe they need 24GB VRAM for games :/

The vast majority of the post-production professionals use GeForce - 3D animators, designers, editors etc. A 24GB card is for them. But of course nVidia will still market it to gamers to get as much money as possible.

They're not called Quadros, the new ones are called A100's.

The GA100 are not Quadro replacements, they are higher up in the stack. The Quadro replacements are currently the already announced A40 and A6000 cards. They are based on the full GA102 die, but have the full 84SMs (the 3090 has 82). Those SM counts look indicative of no Titan incoming.

So I'm now using 2x 3090 rtx in SLI, as I do both research and games, I believe this setup to be in the same class as Titan
The only problem is that SLI is pretty much dead and gone. There will be few, if any, games that support it.

That has yet to be seen. While NVidia calls the 3090 "Titan class" they're not actually calling it a "Titan" which may still be incoming.

You don't and can't know that. Time will tell.

Basically without the “Pro Drivers” Titan could run some people have insisted it can be used the same but I think they’ll find that with just gaming drivers it won’t be compatible or as friendly with the workload Titans were being used for.

Well, I'm actually pretty good at making profiles in SLI using inspector. I'm not 100% successful, more like 40% scale really well, 20% are better than just 1 card, and the remaining 40% I just can't do anything to improve it. But I have more than 120 profiles I've made over the years, and they transferred to this build with some edits.
