Is the X1900XT worth the premium?

Hello,

I'm currently giving my system a small upgrade, and was wondering if the X1900XT is worth the 50% premium over a X1800XT. Prices being 228€ for the X1800XT, and 336€ for the X1900XT. The system in which they would run is a Venice 3200+ @ ~2.5Ghz, 2x 512Mb Twinx3200C2 on an ASUS A8N-E. Current games they should run are FFXI , Oblivion, Titan Quest. Future games are things like Bioshock, Supreme Commander, Spore and probably some Unreal Engine 3 RPG/MMORPGs. Games are played at 1280x1024. As you can see I'm not into fps, and thus not very interested in high framerates. Either video-card would be hooked up to a pre-existing watercooling setup, and probably overclocked as far as they go. The reason I ask this is because most benchmarks I come across show very little improvement going from an 1800 to a 1900.

So, is it worth it?

 I was just reading your thread tofu :D It seems VERY promising indeed. Certainly when I can get my hands on one of those for basically the same price as the X1800XT. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on that thread and see how it turns out for other people!

Yah man, I'm still at school right now and I can't do any testing work.

Right now though, the BIOS that I modded does not enable voltage and fan controls in ATITool. When I get home I'll test another modded BIOS that should enable voltage and fan controls.

Ill be updating the thread asap!!!

I also emailed my BIOS file to Shamino of Vr-Zone so he could test the BIOS on his review sample X1900GT

What are your thoughts on the succesrate of this bios-flash btw? Do you expect to see many cards that have an actual "broken" quad, or are they indeed just rated down XT's?

I am actually really not sure. But just to do a random guess, I think that ratio between down clocked and effed up cores could be 40/60

Just my guess..
