Christ do you not read what people have been telling you? Get the 780.

Overclocking the 770 will only do so much since they do not scale well when they are overclocked. Only an increase of a few fps. That is not the GPU grunt I was referring too.

Yep I got the 780

Good for you! Enjoy!! I think that despite the lower clock speed, you'll see how fast it really is, since so many other factors play into GPU speed. You won't regret it.

I would have picked the R9 290 myself, if I was the one buying a card. Too late now though. Despite liking AMD myself, I have to say OP picked a solid card and couldn't have done much better, especially considering the 780 was stretching their budget as it was. Edster, I don't think you'll regret spending the extra $$ once you get it. Getting a better card now gives you the option of SLI down the road where as the lesser card would have needed a SLI setup almost immediately.

oh dont make the OP think twice now. He already ordered one. certainly he got confused about GPU (770 vs 780).

anyway OP, enjoy your card. Have read that 780 can overclock extremely well. Would like to pick up 780's my self but price here in korea is still at launch prices ($700 +) and 780ti's are at 850's...... so for prices, id rather pick up couple of 290's instead.

I would have probably got one if the prices hadn't spiked in Canada, don't forget my original budget was 450 but I ended up spending around 530. Though from what I have read it seems that I will be worth the extra bit! :)

yes better do. I have not own a high end GTX card but you must read alot.... by I mean alot before you do. I have read alot of people being careless OC'ing there GTX cards and alot end up "kaboom" on their VRM especially green cards end up crying. So suggest read thoroughly all post, not just try OC'ing cause you read once. Google is your friend.

I like AMD cards cause my current cards are so durable. whatever flashing different vbios, OC, dont want to cause i dont want to overvolt. But flashed alot of times. That is good thing about dual vbios. GTX cards doesnt seem to have a dual vbios.

anyway, i agree with you that ref cooled 780ti, 780 and titan are sexier. If only I could take off their coolers and slap into my amd GPU's I will do that. lol. i know its possible but I will end up spending more than water cooling block ^_^

Nice. Enjoy the card... My 760 rocks so I can only imagine how good a 780 would be.

my reference cooler EVGA GTX 780 is the coolest running card I have ever owned by a long shot. I think its all about setting up an efficient fan profile. With Precision at least, you can set up 8 different points on the fan curve.

You could grab another 2GB HD6950 and X-Fire. May be cheaper.

Nevermind, I didn't see he purchased one :/

The OP will be fine with his choice.
The 780 should be a great card to use and if desired, I'm sure a second one could be found later for SLI to kick things up a notch. Doesn't matter if it's the top dog GPU or not, the OP will be happy with their choice. I can tell you it should deliver for sometime to come, my MSI GTX 560-448 can still handle anything I've thrown at it so far and the one he picked up is clearly a better card.
