It is a stand alone game its an expansion that can be played without the original and it is extremely addictive its like total annihilation because its about large scale tactics rather than close quarters. I find it excellent and it needs a beefy cpu to play an 8 player 1000 unit match. Graphics are very nice and don't take up much processing power and the campaign is very good but it does throw you in the deep end if you haven't played supreme commander's campaign.

I like C&C 3 + Kanes Wrath for my faster paced, action loaded RTS that doesn't take days to finish a round...but if I wanna get technical and have more room to expand, more to research and larger battles I'll load up the Sup Com and have a good time...I've yet to try FA, but I plan on getting it soon. Both are great games, I love RTS games...looking forward to SC2 and Red Alert 3 for sure!

It can range from small tactical battles to begin with to truly epic large scale battles that can have up to 600 odd units battling it out, plus it expands on the usual right click to move a unit, you can have units be built at factories and then move to a spot where a transport unit will ferry it to a location you specify nearer the action which saves alot of time and you can focus on the fighting and have the game automatically bring you backup.

My rig did pretty well with Sup Com, well my old build...e6300 @ 3.5, 2x1GB DDR2 - 1000, x1950pro 256mb slightly oc'd, slower 500GB 7200.9 Seagate HDD. I noticed a few slowdowns here and there, but nothing that deterred the gameplay for me...I can only imagine you'll be just fine dude...the game is huge, so you will get the occasional slowdown, no way around it. Sure this is one of the few games that can tout it can utilize quad cores...but by no means is it required...I think you'll be quite content.

Quite well I'd think but its not gpu dependant and your cpu has quite a high clockspeed so I think you could play 8v8 with and it might just slow down time to keep pace.

it's a very good game. Just make sure you've got a couple of hours to kill first because it is LONGGGGG
