While only surfing the internet (so it should not be too hot) I run ATItool 0.27 and I get random yellow dots and yellow lines on the fuzzy cube.

ArtiFacts.jpg

Asus EAH4850 Top VGA

I have had this card almost a week, no ocing it as its already factory oc'ed and no bios flashing either. It runs at stock everything.

Should i RMA to the Egg for a new card? I have about 3 weeks to get a rebate on it, but I dont want to hold onto a bad card.

Thank you

If the MS Paint image is a .bmp file, open it and try saving it as a .jpg file. It should then be small enough to upload. Really hard to help without an image.:)

I was able to cut out all the extra crap and upload. I have downloaded the TPUScreen Catcher for future.

Damn, I was hoping I would not have to RMA it, but now I guess Ill have to

Have you already tried COMPLETELY uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling?

Those are artifacts. However, in my experience I don't find atitool to be the most reliable artifact scanner. I had a stock 6800 that would get artifacts in atitool and no other program/game which makes me questions its effectiveness

Nope, atitool was probably just putting more load on the card than the games were. If you are getting artifacts in atitool, then the card is not stable. Period.

If it's artifacting at stock speeds, RMA it.

I was getting Arti's in the form of yellow boxes while browsing this forum, without ATItool Running. I did not uninstall/reinstall drivers. I noticed the problem maybe two days ago, but I thought it was this website, so today I run ATITool and get the Arti's

Reinstall Drivers . Make sure you uninstall, reboot, then install.

If that doesnt work, then your card is defective and you will have to RMA it.

Thats it. Its either or

I dont understand why I would have to uninstall/reboot/reinstall drivers. I got the drivers from ATI website and have not messed with the card at all. I could see performing a reinstall if the drivers became corrupted from too much crap on pc but I dont think that happened. I installed TPUScreenCapture only after installing the card

Please enlighten me

It's just to be sure, but from my own experience with ATi hardware, if you get artifacts, or driver resets or whatever, it's a hardware fault, and no amount of driver reinstalls will fix it.

To do a PROPER uninstallation of any drivers to a hardware, you SHOULD reboot your computer after just to have all the files deleted and to make sure you start fresh. You dont have to, but in past experience, its just better to do, takes a few minutes out of your time..
