Is wireless N networking limited by using a pci adaptor?

Is is worth my while shelling out the few extra quid for a N wireless adaptop with a pci-e interface over a standard pci interface? The maths say no- but does real world experience say yes?

Any opinions appreciated!

Benchmark Scores Faster than the tortoise; slower than the hare.
802.11n has a maximum throughput of 75 MB/s. PCI has a maximum throughput of 133 MB/s. PCI Express has a maximum throughput of 250 MB/s per lane. The only reason it would be worth paying more for the PCI Express version is if you need to keep the PCI slots you do have available or you simply do not have any PCI slots available. Performance wise, it shouldn't matter.

Software Windows Server 2003 R2 as a Workstation now migrated to W10 with regrets.
It depends on your NEXT mainboard! It probably wont have PCI so get the PCIe for future migration.

Very valid points both of you. I'm gonna go with the PCI-e... there's not that much of a difference price wise but while i might change motherboards annually my networking gear should last me a couple of years...

lol, not even close, wireless N isnt 75MB/s its more like 75mbit, and good luck, i doubt it would even do that. no wireless N is not fast. pci is not the fastest thing in the world but why do you think you can get like 400mb/sec via raid on PCI?

Firstly you can't get 400MB/s on raid in PCI...

Second, Wireless N is 270Mbit/s, Pre-N is 300Mbit/s.

270Mbit/s = 33.75MB/s

Granted these are maximums.
