Issue with getting my 22" WS Monitor to show full screen.

Best way to sum up my issue is this. This is the monitor I got Asus. Im running it with this Link Depot HDMI Cable. Alright so the quality, color saturation, black levels, gtg, are all awesome. However, I have it set with its native resolution (1920x1080p) and it doesnt fill the whole screen with scaling enabled. I get black bars all around and even the lettering is fuzzy for icons and such (I am not sure how to enable Clear Type for Vista 64 which would help if it isnt enabled). Im using an Asus EK Dark Knight 1GB HD4870 GPU with DVI to HDMI Dongle. I tried using Vistas Personalize option as well as CCC with no luck. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hmmm ....

Did you enable GPU scaling in CCC? Just curious cause you didn't state specifics of what you did in CCC.

Other than that I really have no clue where you could go with this. Maybe check your LCD's OSD Menu.

is the aspect ratio set correctly? seems like it may be in 16:9 instead of 16:10

Didnt see a setting for 16:10 on the OSD Menu. Ill check again later and see.

In CCC I do have GPU Scaling enabled on it.

BTW, its natively a 16:9 Widescreen

Yeah that may be what Im stuck with. Its just really annoying I hate black bars

I only have issues with black bars that cover the good spots

Altho it really bugs me on my widescreen the WMP wont fill the screen(fullscreen mode), leaving the bars at the top and bottom

OK try disabling it. But you stated this is only happenning in game? Gotta make sure the game itself supports widescreen and 16:9 aspect ratio.

Yeah its doing that for me now. My niece is in the kitchen where I have it set up for right now with my OCing and WMP11 is full screen and she still has the black bars while watching Twilight

Ive yet to try a game with it aside from Luxor which my mom played earlier and it was fine. Im wanting my OS to fill the screen up to be honest.

On the Monitor with the HDMI hook up, it has two aspect control settings. Full (and grayed out underneath it is 4:3) or Overscan. I dont have a setting to put it at 16:9. Im thinking I need to email Asus for help with this

Do you have the refresh rate set to the max the monitor can handle? I noticed this when playing World Championship Snooker 2005, which is a 4:3 game. If I select 1280x1024@60hz I get black bars, but if I set it to 1280x1024@75hz it stetches to fill the whole screen. Maybe completely unrelated, but worth a shot.

hmmm... this is very interesting. My 22" filled in automatically once the drivers were installed. Very odd your 24" is being lame

I Dont have a setting in CCC for 75Hz, the max is 60HZ.

@HolyCow02, I reinstalled the 8.12s last night and yet it still has black bars and it is a 22" screen.

I may need to force the 75hz refresh rate if it is possible but I dont know if I can do that.

refresh rate wont help the black bars at all. that has to do with how fast the screen sets up the next image. To be hoonest refresh rate isnt really the same idea on LCD's anyways. A bit of a throwback to the CRT days.

Just wanted to say that I resolved my problem. I had to force the 1080p resolution in CCC and then I was able to get the overscan to correct the problem (moved the slider like up to 5%) and now it fills the screen. Makes me happy now.
