I'm saying there are better pastes out there. AS5 is old, requires curing time, can dry out, etc. etc. Plus, people are getting best results with CL Pro or ultra. Not saying AS5 won't work, that's ridiculous, there's just better.

I'll buy that... when I run out my 12 gram tube of AS5 :p

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)

Where is my picture of Jules Winnfield when you need it...

Thanks for clarifying. :toast:

Have you used CL Ultra yourself? I'm kind of curious about it and if others have tried it with good results, I'd be willing to take a step away from AS5 to try something new.

CL ultra is the shit. Its the best ever!

Stock with as5: 65*C load
Delid with CL Pro: 70*C load
Delid with AS5: 72*C load
Delid with CL ultra: 50*C load

Pro is a huge pain in the ass to apply because it doesn't spread out from a bead.

Does it really make that much of a difference? That seems a big extreme to me.

It did for me. I couldn't get the damn pro to spread right. I tried dot method line method spread method. Nothing worked. Applied it 10x, used up the entire syringe. Ultra went on first time worked perfect.

Are you doing direct-die or just changing the lid TIM?

I attempted 4.9Ghz last night with no luck, even up to 1.475v it would run Prime95 for about 5 minutes, 85c peak, then spontaneously reboot. Tried 1.4, 1.425, 1.450, 1.475 pretty much same result each time.

4.8Ghz is rock solid at 1.40v Before getting naked, it needed 1.425v. And it's running about 5c cooler. So there's a plus :)

lid TIM not direct die. I can run 1.41v at 65*C load, 4.5 ghz stable. My chip sucks. It runs very cool for its given voltage but its terrible otherwise. I figured its not worth it over 4.0ghz at 1.128v. Go for ultra, you could probably get it down to 1.38v.
