That sux for real, do to a UEFI update: u will be forced to upgrade, not only Mobo,Cpu but also switch OS.
Switching to Win8 on top of MB/Cpu, gotta get more expensive than usual, to get the latest and greatest. Nice move Intel, Thx for this, (if this is real) not seeing Intelsales going up next year,
as most ppl cant afford it.

Thats fine with me. I plan on using my p67 and 2500k for a while. Sucks for all those who bought a p67 with plans of updating.

I felt from the get go just bumping up to 6 cores was going to be disappointing... if you have a 1155 I'd wait for a ddr4 compatible 8 core on 2011. Short of that the upgrade won't be noticeable.... hell day to day you probably won't even notice that. With SB it feels like there's a real surplus of performance.

They could just ship out bios chips for socketed boards at least, cheaper than sending the board off somewere.

I'm sorry for all of you Intel guys if this is true. I'm so jaded by the Bulldozer mess that I won't believe anything until launch though.

What I'm more surprised about is no support for Windows 7. That would suck.

SOME UEFI changes will not be supported by W7, and HASWELL won't be supporting W7.

The article basically says that HASWELL (2013~2014) MIGHT not support Windows 7, and that IVY BRIDGE will support Windows 7, albeit having one or 2 features lesss than if used with Windows 8
