This is sort of a clue...

Lol, a couple of low-tech outlets .... the whole internet is laughing at TPU for posting this. We know literally nothing about the card, including the name. Why post a spec page like this then ? All I can think of for the reason is to taunt people to click and speculate.

:D I exaggerated a little....

But I haven't seen one person take this seriously on any other site/forum I visit. There were a couple of laughs aimed at TPU too. I just don't know why post such things. You get people confused, drop an elephant into a room, and when they respond to it you heckle them and give them minus points.

This is just stupid. If you post such confusing info, you should probably expect people to be confused. This is entirely on the person who posted it, not on John Naylor.

Not sure who that is directed at, but from what I can see, only one of the people who posted in this thread gave him a -1, and their reply is pretty spot on to be honest.

Who in that list is heckling anyone?
Had he worded the post differently to express confusion or asking for clarity, rather than just hoping for price reduction on current cards, maybe the crowd would have reacted differently. To me the OP has no substance, and is honestly on the verge of closure with a lack of any real point other than to attract attention to himself.

That's what OP got ... fair or not, what do you want to achieve by calling it out this way ... I suppose you want to convince all these trigger happy minus one givers to stop behaving this way

What is the point of creating a placeholder for a card that we know nothing about ?

Editor had extra time, and wanted to be a step ahead of the game. On the other hand, clicks are money. Even if just clickbait, you seem to get that angle already, and conversation makes for more clicks than just a placeholder link.

This reddit post pretty much sums it up - When you read the description of the GPU in the TPU database, the way it's worded sounds like the author has held one in his hands, even with the disclaimers saying it hasn't been released yet. But doesn't TPU make a placeholder entry for every new GPU, before it's actual release? Or is this a new policy? I don't remember any backlash like this on the 780, 980, or1080. A sign of the times? Also, speculation/rumors about new GPU releases are always the most popular subjects on hardware sites, so why wait for actual facts? Let the battle begin...

I'm glad we're on topic again.
The answer to your question: It's a freaking public database, placeholder record is created early so that database administrator has to update fields of an existing record as more info comes by.
Initial speculative content of the entry could have been omitted, but then again disclaimer is there also

So the purpose was creating a clickbait to start a conversation, and the guy who was baited into conversation was immediately jumped on by people ? The moderator does not condone his post, which was baited by TPU staff themselves ?

Here's how I feel about this whole business

TPU. We do what we must, because we can!

...sorry. I just had to do it.

I suggest putting msrp at $350, then placing a small print disclaimer at the bottom of the page "price is subject to change ". That'll get clicks like OH BOY !!!

Ok then, I was trying to allow for a normal conversation to come of it, but since you are so willing to try to create a mountain from a molehill.... its closed
