Just bought my first LCD monitor

1920X1080 looks insane. I have one question tho, do i need AA in games anymore?
I still have MLAA enable in the Control panel tho.

sure if you want to use it.but with your card @ 1920 x 1080 it may be a bit rough

AA will make your game look better in any situations and is a must for a LCD at below native resolution.
If you want my opinion, I would always enable AA to get the most of my games

Looks like a good little monitor for the price. Generally it's been said that at 1080p and over AA becomes less important granted most people still turn it on including myself, i'd say it'd still be best to have AA on especially if you have a card that can handle AA and other effects at 1080p, but now that you have a 1080p monitor you really don't have to go for the max available amount of AA in a game, maybe just 2x-4x MSAA if you feel you need it or just stay with MLAA.

Well i plan to upgrade to a GTX 550ti 2gb version very soon, but so far i tested out 2 games at 1920x1080 = APB reloaded with no aa, and Jericho max with no aa. Seems like at 1920x, you don't need aa in certain games. So if i keep AA off certain games, it runs smooth. I do notice about a drop in the frame rate in both games at 1920x if i have AA on or off. But overall it runs pretty smooth. Keep in mind, i also have MLAA enable, which i am about to disable to see how things run. But overall pretty good, at 1920x1080.

Yea i plan to enable AA on the not so demanding games. Playing at 1920x is what i plan to keep it at.

Yea once i get a more up to date video card, i will use AA in games , so at the moment i will use it only for certain games.

Question why does my monitor get darker when i stand back or sit back from the monitor, cant see anything on the ' SCREEN", can you fix that?
Never had this problem with CRT's.

It could be a viewing angle issue, if you are changing what angle you are looking at the monitor from, it could look darker or lighter. This is especially true if you are changing your vertical angle.

Most definitely.

The lower down I am the darker the image gets, the higher I get above the panel the brighter it gets.

As for AA, you will most likely find you will need it with a larger monitor.

Something like a 22" with HD would not.

Yup, AA is the first thing I turn off if I have performance issues, because I never really notice the difference. Maybe if I were to take a screenshot and then stare at it, but I certainly don't notice during actual gameplay.

Especially for those coming off consoles and going to PC.
Me being one of them in the past.

I remember my Brother watching me happily playing San Andreas on the PS2 and saying how terrible it looks.
Then I look at him going 'whatcha talkin' about willis?' as I had never used a PC for gaming during that time.

With my current monitor I need AA.
It actually has less pixels than my old CRT I was using before despite having a larger screen.

So OP if you can calculate the difference between your old screen and the 24" one you have now in pixel per " then besides your own eyes, you will get an idea of which one will exhibit more jaggies.

If I am correct your 5750 1GB has lower performance than my HD4850 512mb so the chances are you will have to deal with jaggies until you get something like a 5850 at least for a 24" with enjoyable frame rates on most if not all games.

Oh crap the wife beaters are getting to me.

In that case, with the OPs card, screen size and the resolution, he should not need AA at all.
Although after taking a look at the reviews, it appears there maybe much left to be desired about those ACER monitors.

My Brother on the other hand has a 27" 3D ACER monitor and he loves it.

So it maybe a hit or miss.

I browse(internet, etc) at 1920x1080. But because of my 5750 i game in " most games " at 1366x768 with full AA, MLAA. Because i have MLAA enable, i leave AA in games at x2. There are a few games which i play at 1920x1080 no issues, mostly older ones. Everything is working nice tho Once i get my new card i will play all games at 1920x1080.

Didn't think you would get obvious jaggies with your monitor size and res without AA in games.
Shouldn't be too long before you get a new GPU and from your specs that's all you should need.

Should have gotten an LED monitor. Recently bought mine and it is AMAZING. The viewing angle is just sesational (160/170 degrees)

I have to yet experience the viewing angles in comparison to LCD.

Technically even an LED is a LCD as the panel is LCD but the back lighting is LED.
I know there are still pros and cons to LED vs LCD back light but I do not know if there is an overall superior viewing angle on LEDs vs LCD.

So far the only thing which I had found better on an LED is the fact the power supply is not part of the monitor which should result in lower heat and if not, should be easier to replace than having to repair the power supply within the monitor itself if the power supply fails.
