Enjoy! I've had mine for over a year and it still performs tip top condition, and even though it's close to a Velociraptor in speed, it's much quieter :)

Benchmark Scores This varies from one driver to another.
The Black Series is one of the best out there for the price. I don't know of any other drive out there that's comparable. And yes, it's not just "benchmark improvements" games do load faster.

I've got 2 of the 640GB version. They are as fast as the older Raptors, but significantly slower than my Velociraptor. Seriously good deal.

It's just too bad the 2TB one is $300 - speed plus the 64mb cache - wow!

i just bought one of those 1TB Black's for a external backup drive just last week, put it in a Astone 481E enclosure and its been great so far. Its a very heavy hdd (triple platter), also runs hot, 50c+ . But apart from that its quiet and yes fast as ive seen in benchmarks, beats the Seagate 1TB in everything.

I have the 750 GB version and absolutely love it so far. I am running windows 7 on the WD Black and vista on my old seagate drive.

It seems all of WD's drives have more of a deep quiet tapping sound while the seagate drives have a higher pitched clickity sound. (not sure why i mentioned that, but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that)

Four of the 640GB Blacks in RAID-0 'short stroked' on ICH10R:

Entire capacity in RAID-5:

I've used their RE equivalents at work in 8-drive arrays... just smoking! Doesn't hurt that it was on an Adaptec 5805 (512MB cache, PCIe x8, 1.2GHz controller).
