This is the curse of the high-speed Internet age. There was a time, when a developer released their game & that was it, if it sucked ,they lost a lot of money. Nowadays it's almost common for developers to release 10+ gigabyte patches, which means they can announce an IP ,work on it until it's quasi-playable, and then release it while making boatloads of cash ,and fix it over the next six months in the form of "updates". Sadly, it's what gamers asked for, by buying into the pre-order scheme, every person who's ever preordered a game ,has fed this giant "snowball" of crap games ,that slowly gains momentum ,and size the further down the hill it rolls , until you have what we are at now, which is a situation where it's entirely "par for the course", for developers to release a game that is 60% (or less) finished, sell it at premium cost, and they have plenty of time to fix it while gamers put up with it ,because they've already paid for it (pre-order), & they'll almost certainly preorder the next release too. All while playing a buggy, not ready for release game, and defending it too, because to admit it sucks, is to admit they made a stupid decision in pre-ordering it, and we all know there are plenty of people who will stand up for games like fallout 76 ,because they pre-ordered it ,and they don't want to admit they made a dumb decision. It's the same way confidence schemes work, it's just a different product, but the same principle, get a person to buy into a lie...get them invested enough, then it wont matter if they realize its a scheme, becasue they will have to admit they were gullible.
