just tested AS5 vs IC Diamond 7

I have had the Arctic Silver 5 installed for about 4 weeks...

temps taken using Real Temp for monitoring and LinX for load, room temp 18c

The test machine was:

CPU: q9550 (e0) @ 3.82GHz @ 1.265v (lapped and polished)

Cooling: Enzotech Sapphire Rev A (lapped and polished), D5 pump, 77 Bonneville Heater Core, custom fan shroud, (2) Sycthe Kaze Ultra 3000RPM 120mm fans

Only 1-2 degrees? I expected more. I think the problem with IC Diamond 7 is the particle size is too large and there's not a high enough ratio of diamond/suspender. Diamonds are capable of much better thermal conductivity than IC Diamond 7 makes it out to be.

difference would be larger if the cooler was NOT lapped and polished ;)

yeah but with an unlapped cooler the differnce is more like 5-7+ degrees

I've always used OCZ Freeze and lately changed to IC Diamond. I have lapped TRUE and unlapped Q9550. The temperature was the same. IC Diamond however was a lot harder to spread.
IC Diamond is not as good as everybody say. It's just as good as any other TIM.
