I was about to buy this game but read it uses PhysX.

I'm not supporting that horrible proprietary pile of crap.

That is probably why it crashes so much for you guys too, PhysX is garbage.

If you don't have an nVidia graphics card PhysX games are built to crash on your system.

It hasn't crashed on me (Intel CPU + AMD GPU). Granted, I only played it 5 hours.

Intel CPU + AMD GPU here, no problem at all. played 528 hrs

Really? It's crashed more on my nvidia system than anything else :eek:

Holy fanboy nerd rage..

I'm waiting on the next patch before I delve back into this game.. adds a few neat things like the start of the tech tree, actual in space research and saveable components

Well it's a complete sandbox right now. Theirs a story mode with research and where you have to worry about cost and completing tasks to make money, that hasn't been implemented yet.

I'm one of them, stop playing shortly after .21 was released because it kept breaking my saves. Every time an update comes in I have to choose between my current save and the new features.

So me who already played some 500 hrs into it figured why not wait for the completed version to play. Maybe I'll try it and mess around after each and every update. but not play seriously like i did vefore

Yeah, 0.22 came out a couple weeks ago. It adds career mode, but it is still way far from finished. You earn science to unlock things, but there isn't an money implemented yet. This game has a lot of potential though.

once you get the basics down, look into the kethane mod. Basically lets you set up bases on other planets to mine for fuel.

Been plying it since 0.15 or so. Awesome game, I keep coming back! Altough I had to resort to the JPL homepage to learn about orbital mechanics to get the grips.
And Mechjeb is invaluable for docking lol

Also check out KMP, a (still buggy but somewhat functioning) multiplayer mod!

It works decently for an experimental alpha, but EVA isn't synchronised and I've lost some ships while atempting to dock so be vary.

I really wish the devs fully implement MP and make it like minecraft

Well force them to be interested!

I've heard rumors that they will simply integrate KMP once its stable... which would be a wise move because it theoretically works very well and is quite smartly set up. Even warping is possible, KMP simply resynchronises your and the other's universe once warping is done. So sort of a parallel-synchronous multiplayer.

I thought some of you would be interested in watching Scott Manley. He does some simply amazing stuff in KSP.

Here is one of his videos. In this one he has built a shuttle in KSP, takes it into orbit, and lands it back at the runway. I've got 200 hours in KSP and I can't even get a regular plane back to the runway...

I don't know why but I don't like that guy very much... not because I envy him (I do but thats not the point), but because of his...well I dunno. But yeah he does have imense skills. I can barely make it to Eve and this guy makes multiplanet journeys.

Lol about dem planes, physics for them just don't work as they should at the moment. Abominations that should in no way fly (and were designed NOT to fly) handle exceptionally well, whereas planes who should at least glide immediately explode.

Bringing a plane into orbit is another level of frustration, I hit a wall at around 15km where it just starts to spin uncontrollably.

Yeah, the big problem with planes in KSP right now is that the wings don't generate lift. They just act like flat surfaces.

One of the mods he is using makes wings work more realisticly.

With stock KSP I can keep a plane flying at about 25K. I can even do a SSTO, but landing...

yup planes weren't primarily designed to work on KSP when they first made the game(they were only focusing on capsule type space travel). Some modders just added planes and it became popular and the devs decided to make it "officially" part of it like other popular mods, they even recruited the modders themselves. thats why flying a plane is very hard. planes in simulators are much more easier to fly. I hope they can make it more realistic as the game goes on.

I haven't played the new updates, but there is really no point in making space planes aside from the novelty right? i mean, they designed Spaceplanes in real life because of Reusability and Cheaper Costs(reason why the Space Shuttle is a major fail) and there isn't a recycle craft mechanism in the game yet.

Yeah, right now there isn't any reason for space planes if you play stock. There are mods that make re-usability beneficial, and eventually when the official economy is implemented I'm sure re-usability will be necessary.
