Kind of a stupid question

I'm new to pc building. I bought a MSI B450M-A PRO MAX motherboard and it has a 4 pin CPU connector.
Now... the power supply I bought has a split 8 (4+4) pin connector...

I feel stupid for asking but better be sure...

Does it matter which one I use? Thanks, and sorry.

Nope it doesn't matter, just dont put it in sideways is all

Both 4 pins CPU connectors are designed with a specific pin scheme to prevent incorrect insertion. If you can plug it completely, then you did the right choice

The split 8pin is keyed, meaning only one of the seperate 4pin connectors should fit into the 4pin connector on the board. Try them both, see which one fits.

It should be the left side connector when you separate the 8 pin into two 4 pin connectors. It's worked 100% for me every time I've had a mobo board with a 4 pin.
I say left side 4 pin when you're looking at the 8 pin connector with the plastic latch side facing you.
