Really annoyed that they haven't put out a release date for the Crosshair IV Extreme. Everyone is raving about the Formula, but I am underwhelmed with the reviews of it at this point.

I guess it is really not just Asus who dropped the ball with the Thuban launch since they had two 890FX boards out a day after AMD launched their X6, but I think the least they could do is provide their customers with a release date for their flagship 890FX motherboard :shadedshu:shadedshu

If they don't hurry up and give their customers some info on the CH IV Extreme, I will be jumping on the MSI bandwagon and picking up the MSI 890FX board.

End of RANT!

Hahah.. MSI? Go ahead, do that, it'll be so much fun. :slap:

There was a time when I wouldn't use MSI boards in my builds. That time is long past. The high-end MSI boards I've used in the past year have been every bit as good as their Asus counterparts.

Like that's a challenge. The Celtics are like a bunch of senior citizens now. Let's see how they do against Orlando. Back on topic please...

I agree that possibly MSI may have caught up some, though I still wouldn't chose them over Asus or Gigabyte if you overclock at all. Simply put, their bios is inferior to both Gigabyte and Asus.

Adding to that, their Mid-range products are more often that not beaten by cheaper parts from other companies.....plus their RMA service/support record isn't the best. :wtf:

Wait for the Asus board, all else will fall in comparison. :rockout:

I dunno I got a cheap MSI and it's not bad at all I would say it measures up to the mid range GB and ASUS boards easy..But since I have had a few mishaps with MSI in the PAST I still wouldn't get a High End MSI board..I'd go for a GB..and on that Note I have a Jetway 790 that is 3x the board of this MSI I'm using When it comes to Voltage settings and OCability

Last MSI board I had was a S478 one.... bloody excellent boards, and great customer support too. I'd go for MSI if I were you. Looking at reviews of the new ASUS board leaves me very underwhelmed, just like you!!

MSI 890FX board hasn't really been shown to OC ram very well, which is what I am really looking for in the CH IV extreme. Seems like the Formula is the best 890FX due to the stability right out of the box. I expect this to get better with BIOS revisions, but I really think Asus should at least give us a time frame on the Extreme.

If it were say, 3 months or more I would buy a Formula now.

Go buy the MSI then? Unless Asus owes you a board or something, I don't see why your "rant" is needed.

Where did I say it was "needed"? I'll post my opinion. If you don't like it fine. Posting thoughts and opinions is a spring board for conversation. Last time I checked that wasn't a bad thing :slap:

MSI isn't that bad, honestly.

5770, 785G board, 890GX board, they've all been great.

Where did you see that?

Also, the MSI pretty much sucks at memory OC'ing which is disappointing. I have new Corsair GTX2 sticks to play with and I want a mobo that can at least get me above 2000MHz, which the CH IV Formula already does. So I am hoping the Extreme is just as good or better than the Formula.

Not to mention the lucid chip on the Extreme is a nice added tough, if just for the added PCI-e lanes.
