Just preorderd it today for 42$ wasn't a bad deal loved the demo, but I got the UK version that can actually be activated anywhere but I'lll have to wait till the 10 since EU version launches till then...

Looks like it has loads of potential but the demo kinda sucked. I'll give this one a couple of months after release to see how it turns out.

How I wish this had ambient occlusion.. shadows are so simplified.. no 'shadows within shadows'. Definitely designed with consoles in mind.

Needs the specific game profile for it to run correctly. Skyrim worked before because since it used Fallout3 game profile for AO. This ones pretty much a new engine..

A few hours in, and you get the feeling its some kind of a free to play mmo. The quests are somewhat generic "go here, kill these, go back". Terrain feels a bit flat as well. Imo, wait for a $5 sale or something. The character sheet is intersting though. You can be a warrior, rogue, and mage type build lol.. equates to a mix and match combos in the battle (launch some guy with a large two handed sword, juggle him with arrows midair, then throw in a chain lightning spell for the finale.)

Yeah felt the same after playing the demo, a shame as the combat and charachter creation felt pretty refreshing. The voice acting seemed decent too.

After a few hours im a bit dissapointed with it. I just bought skyrim though, i think ill maybe play it again with a sneaky or mage instead of brawler i did before

Love it so far!

I had been trying for 1 week to get into Witcher 2...Just couldn't. Installed Kingdom of Alamur and I played until 4am.

This game is similar to WoW in graphics, but like TorchLight/Diablo/Sacred in looting. Leveling is far better then Witcher 2 as I get to really customize my character, rather then same guy just different abilities.

Combat systems is much much better then Skyrim.

Magic system is cool, but I would prefer a much wider amount of spells.

Character Customization is great.

If you like dungeon crawlers, with random loot and a higher level of character customization then this is a great game for you.

If you loved Mass Effect, Witcher or other thick plot games then you probably will get bored of this game because the story line isn't that strong, and typically I just skip all the conversations, get the quest on the map, and go there.

It about Looting, Power, and character customization.

I like the art style although it looks like a cleaned up WoW.

I also think this game has more replay value then Skyrim. Because even if you started as a mage in Skyrim you can always just switch to a fighter class. Eventually getting 100's in every skill...which I pretty much did and then what?? Start over with a fighter class and end up getting magic skills...Meh.

This game limits you. Sorta like D&D. There are 3 class groups and you can spend points in any of those. But doing that limits your power in the other classes. Meaning if you are dumping points in Magic you won't be able to dump those points in Finesse. Which means I can replay it with an entirely different build and game experience.

This looks way better.

Anyway, been playing a bit and I like it. The menus are horrible, almost worse than Skyrims. And that goes for ALL menues, from inventory to crafting.

Also it feels a bit limiting so far, which is good and bad I guess. The combat and leveling system is nice.

I've just downloaded the demo last week and still on the fence whether to buy it or not. The combat is refreshing but the graphics is not really that appealing. I'm a not a graphic whore but Kingdoms of Amalur reminds me too much Torchlight, as if it's the third person version- like the multiple camera positions in the first Witcher. While trying out the demo I got the feeling "Didn't I play this game already?" and it all points back to Torchlight. It's not the graphic style that I hate. It's the extremely heavy sense of deja vu that's putting me off. From the clinking sound of gold coins, the way crates explode into nothingness to the swarming enemies - too much Torchlight while I know I'm playing a totally different game. I've played Torchlight to death so I would like to play something a little bit different - I did wished Kingdoms of Amalur to be more like The Darksiders kind of graphic instead of Torchlight.

Another reason that I'm still on the fence is the slight differences between the keyboard and X Box controller. With the controller I can launch a primary weapon and secondary after one another and it felt smooth. With the keyboard, I have to press Q to toggle between the primary and secondary while the right mouse button is locked with the magic casting. It's not that troublesome but combat doesn't feel as smooth as when using the controller. With magic you have to wait for your spent mana to recharge so having the right mouse button idle for a long stretch of time felt weird. No to mention that I kept forgetting that I have a powerful magic attack-I'm primarily a brawler- so the right mouse button is subconsciously left un-clicked. Kind of a waste to have a useful button locked to a skill that have to wait for a recharge and then usable only for a couple of blasts before another long wait. Have they fixed this in the final game (unlocking the right click button for other functions) ?

This game have intrigued me but there's a couple of things -graphic and control-in the demo that made me unsure of committing to its purchase. Still thinking about it....

Been playing this a bit, and messing around the FXAA mod, I got to say, if you are enjoying this game, this mod is a must. I know the graphics are cartoony, but once you turn it on you will see they actually did have details on their models that the vanilla game just doesn't show (kind of sad, like pock marks and dents on armors). Heres just a difference between vanilla and fxaa showing just my character.

The chest is the most noticeable, but everything else you can see a major cleanup is done, really makes it look much better. Also allows you to add some more color to the world, the vanilla game feels a bit washed out. I am using the old version of the FXAA mod for Skyrim, v1.2, and I toned down the color settings a lot from what it came with, and it looks great.
