I recently received a pair of Sony MDR-ex300's off ebay today and i'm very disappointed by their sound quality. They sound very muddy, not like they're even bass heavy, even when listening to .flac files. They sound like the 99 cent ear buds you get at dollar general. I was wondering, the auction kept making reference to the seller being a "hong kong seller", are the earbuds i received knock-offs? I did only pay $9 for them shipped compared to their $50 msrp, but i've seen a lot of things on ebay a lot cheaper than msrp. Please give your incite because i'm relatively new to ebay and i'm not sure if what i'm thinking is legit.

Let them break in before you decide. but at $9, I'd suspect it wouldn't be worth the hassle.
If you want to spend $50 or less on a set of IEMs, I suggest the Head Direct RE2's. Best bang for the buck out there. They sound slightly better than my $100 Shures.

They are most likely knock offs. A buddy of mine bought a pair a couple of years ago, and they were for sure. It's probably not worth sending back either. Shipping will be more than the product is worth.

Rather than spending $9 here, $15 there, save like $50 and get a really good pair with a good warranty so you know youve got quality and a few years of backup.
Well i have a set of Sennheiser HD 280 pro's so i don't need a set of expensive primary headphones. I was just looking for a good sounding set for under $20 shipped. So I'm going to break them in for a while with a few hours of Slacker playback and hope for the best--if that doesn't help then i'll contact the seller and see what he/she offers me....or even speaks English.

the CX300's are decent earbuds, I had some like 2 years ago, but if you can find some the SHE9500's or EP-630's, those are good too.
be careful buying CX300's though, alot of them sold online are fake, you need a really reliable vendor now to get real ones
and Ebay on mostly all of sennheisers headphones = Fake.
