I have problems w/ company of heroes, it is very laggy and takes a age to load and unload back to windows!

All other games a running fine and much better than my previous gfx card X1650Pro 256Mb pci-e..

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, it is running at the same settings as my X1650 ran it and the X1650 did not lag and take a age to load/unload!

What I thought it maybe is the fact my mobo is 4x pci-e and the card should really use all 16 lanes!

Any ideas? ;)

Nope. Company of Heroes probably doesnt like your new monster. Why did you get the Asrock 775VSTA? I reckon its only good if you have an AGP from an old rig imported to it. Thing is it doesn't matter. Get 3Dmark 05/06 (Also a good diagnosis tool) and tell us your results after testing with each card.

I bought the vsta about 2 months ago when I had a agp card, im going through big hardware changes at the minute and Im waiting for a ds3 rev.2 and some new 6400 cl4 xms2 ram coming into stock!

I got 5599 in 3dmark06 with the X1950

I think thats abit poor to be honest? Am I right? Can you recommend any other diag tools?

;)

p.s - my girlfriend has my X1650 now

that does sound quite poor, try uninstalling ur drivers, then use drivercleaner to get rid of all ati drivers and any left over files/registry keys, defrag and install the very latest catalysts
although to have that card running at 4x is a bit crap tbh :p

Dont forget to put your games on a separate partition, e.g. G:/

Then you can defrag the games without them getting interspersed with video, system and MP3 files.

Does your system have power management turned on for your HDD? Is your games HDD spinning down between loads? It takes about 10 secs to spin up again... (= partition / swap files also)

Good point,

I don't want to uninstall all of my games a reinstall though, is there anyway of moving the program files to another HDD and editing the registry so they work fine?

I dont use power saving throught the day, only @ night when im asleep!

It would be faster reinstalling the games than editing the reg keys think of how many reg keys you would have to edit and migrate!

Yeah, 4X isnt utilizing the full power of the card. However, its a huge difference between 4X than say 8X to 16X. Aside from that Alc, everything looks fine (cept mobo of course ::cough::)

I know, im fed up of waiting for DS3 rev.2 coming into stock @ my fav website, so I may get this, has same chipset, but doesn't have crossfire, which im not arsed about anyway! Only reason I was going to get the rev.2 was when DX10 is out and I could use my X1950 as a phsix card!

Hmm I have heard keeping your games installed onto the same drive as your Windows system files is faster integration and utilization. Anyone got a guide that explains any of this?
