Hi everyone

To begin, I will explain what happened, I decide to upgrade my graphic card. Had a GeForce 210 (VGA connected) with the remaining configuration:

- OS: Windows 7 64
- Intel Celeron G1610
- 4GB DDR3
- Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2
- 500GB HDD
- XFX 430W TS

So i bought a XFX 8800 GT with dual-DVI, here the problems started, I used the new XFX adapter that came with the graphics, but when I was playing Sims 4 or BF3 game was breaks and fps drop. And finally, in the League of Legends, was the same, and it was even worse when minimized / maximized the game, and also when I was listening playlist on youtube where changed music playlist, happened fps drop and breaks. However thought it was problem of graphics card, and changed by an Asus GTX 260 Top dual-dvi (new dvi adapter too), in this case it seems that the games are well without running nothing more. But to minimize / maximize, or listening to music on youtube, to load the music, he ends up giving fps drop / lag.

I formatted the computer with Windows 8.1 64-bit, and still have same problem, it seems that in the case of youtube, in google chrome the fps drop is smaller than in mozilla firefox.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem or have a case similiar to this?

Greetings and sorry for my English

4GB of RAM isn't enough these days for smooth multitasking between games. HDD could be slowing down as well.

So, why is smooth when i use GeForce 210 connected by VGA? :/ Thats my problem, hdd seems to struggle, but when i use the old GeForce 210 connected by VGA i dont have problems with youtube changing music background with the exact same config, or minimize to check youtube or facebook for example while i play LoL....

Your right. Re-reading your original question there is more to your problem than I originally thought.

Use software mode on flash? And gosh... why youtube and gaming??? What's the point? Buy you music or use spotify. It could be even your sound driver taking exclusive mode. Just don't do that.

It is HWA mode switching obviously... the PureVideo/VDPAU part of the gpu changes gears as 8800 and 210 have those completely different. The 210 has more powerful PV part. On the other hand your CPU is so weak it barely handles youtube decode + gaming actually. More powerful GPU taxes your CPU more... it has to feed it with data.

I dont own a 8800GT anymore, i traded for a GTX 260, so you're saying that my GPU taxes my CPU more, and because of that youtube and try multitask slow the cpu and give me fps drop ? I know the cpu is weak, but for now thats what i can afford.

Can you explain the "use software mode on flash" ? Many people multitask when playing LoL for example...

Right click when watching youtube video, settings and disable hardware acceleration? It is almost the same as the other driver thread bashing, your PC is disbalanced... like having one shoe that is oversized. There are limits how much you can upgrade... Just GPU is not enough.

Maybe just coin some money around 100Euro for Anniversary Pentium G3258 and H81?

Well, i changed the vga cable, and the person who plays on this configs says he dont see any fps drop/breaks, but I will only believe when I test the computer. Btw, youtube changed for html5.

So, you're saying that i get some type of bottleneck when i try skype, youtube and playing lol or sims at same time, im right? If o dont multitask im ok, any cpu G good and cheap for socket 1155?

Any idea to stop this, like phsyx or lock fps? It will work?

Yes mostly because you have a RAM deficiency. 4 GB is borderline. The CPU doesn't help either. But its likely a RAM issue first. Upgrade both.

No PhysX card won't do anything.

Maybe is more the cpu+ram combo. Because i have a i2500k+gtx550ti+4gb ram, and can do multitask in this games..

I was looking for G2xxx series but they have almost the same perfomance or my info is wrong?

It's your choice of game too. BF3 has always been a RAM hog and its never liked dual cores.

Also the XFX 8800 GT isn't enough for BF3, neither is a GTX 260.

Back when BF3 was released people needed at least a 6850 tier card to play reasonably well.

I have a 5850 in CF and I occasionally get frame rate drops in BF3. Keep in mind 8800GT in 4-way SLI would be slower than a single 5850.

Really? The person is playing Bf3 alright in medium settings at 1680x1050...thanks everyone for the help, i was looking for someone with the similiar problem but the help is always welcome

But your expectations are low. You must be getting like 10FPS on a 8800GT.

Edit:

To give you another example. I used to have the 4850. And it couldn't play BF3 beyond jerky movement The 4850 is faster than the 8800GT by a mile. I then upgraded to 4850 CF. Gameplay was much better but it wasn't really playable. Still jerky movement and random long pauses on low/medium. Keep in mind I also had 16GB of RAM and a quad core processor!

Only when I went to 5850 CF the game ran like butter on ultra. Maybe one or two pauses here and there - but its ultra!

Edit 2:

Look at this chart.
2ymg3lu.jpg

Even a 7770 which is more than 2x as powerful as a 8800GT can only get 30FPS. 30FPS is only borderline playable.

a 6870 which is more than 4x as powerful as a 8800 GT only gets 40 FPS.

The 8800GT would struggle to get 15FPS at any setting. The 8800GT was a good card...but its old. Granted BF3 is now old but the 8800GT is from a generation before that!

Going back to your main issue. The RAM (especially in combo with a CPU) would solve the minimising problem. The GPU will fix the frame rate issue in BF3.

the GPU with more ram will access and use more system ram.

It's very likely that your 4GB of ram is not sufficient, and the better video card pushed your ram usage higher - even if it doesn't show in things like task manager.

Your hardware is fairly low performance, you shouldnt push it too hard for multi tasking. you dont have the CPU power or RAM to spare.

I would try and save up some money and just do a complete system overhaul.
