Laptop Refresh rate

Does anyone know the display refreshing rate of the "Hp omen 17 w-216ng" equipped with the gtx1070?

Judging from the HP site and reviews I Googled, that the specs are very basic on the screen beyond listing it as an IPS. I would assume as such that 60Hz is the refresh rate of that screen, any higher and you'd see advertising about it in the software, on the box, maybe even a sticker on the laptop itself, on top of reviews and HP's own speck sheet for that laptop.

I would recommend you contact HP Support as they should be able to provide you with the correct answer.

It's IPS 1080p, they do not mention anywhere about a refresh-rate so I think it's just 60Hz 1080p.

I've never seen a laptop with G-Sync, FreeSync, 120 hz, or 144 hz monitors that didn't specifically advertise it as such. None of those are common enough that sellers leave them out of the description.

Depends on what you consider a benefit. That is a very vague question, and I think you should explain what your intentions are a little more so we can better understand how to answer such questions. The more you provide, the better quality answers you'll get. Vauge questions will generally net vague answers otherwise.

What are you after with buying this laptop, gaming performance? Multitasking performance? General use?

The mobile 1070s perform similarly to their desktop counterparts, which is pretty damn amazing and in that respect for gamers it makes sense.

Probably not a ton. I think the GTX 1060 is a massive upgrade compared to a 1050 or 1050 TI, but 1070 vs. 1060 seems to be a much more marginal upgrade, especially considering the cost difference. I guess what specific games you are likely to play will determine if the 1070 is worth it to you though.

ie. In a lot of games either one will get 60 fps @ Ultra settings making them largely equivalent, but there are some games where a 1060 still doesn't manage 60 fps at 1080P, though in many of those games neither does a 1070.

Examples: (All games listed below show 3-4 #'s, the first is 1060 fps at ultra, second is 1070's fps, 3rd is % gain of 1070 over 1060, 4th is actual % gain you will notice if 1070 exceeds 60 fps)

I'm not a big fan of the idea of buying a 1070 in a desktop intended for 1080P gaming. I think it makes more sense in a laptop though. In a Desktop I think getting a 1060, and then a Volta GPU with the price difference between a 1060 and a 1070 in a year or two will be smarter - but with a laptop it is often better to get a more powerful GPU that is more futureproofed because most likely you will not be able to upgrade its GPU in the future like you could with a desktop.

I've seen G-sync laptops, they just all use its existence as a major marketing detail of the laptop.

I just remembered that you're the same poster that was previously asking whether to get a GTX 1050 or 1070, unfortunately my post above may not be a great comparison then as it was comparing a 1070 to a 1060, but a 1060 is more than twice as powerful than a 1050, so if those are still your only two options I'd definitely go to with the 1070.

EDIT: I decided to check amazon.co.uk as a quick comparison to see European prices vs. American prices. Unfortunately seems like there's much better laptop deals in the US than in Europe.

Both laptops have the same processor, and HDD. The Medion has a 128 GB SSD, the ASUS has 8 extra GB of RAM. I'd personally much prefer 8 extra GB of RAM than a 128 GB SSD. SSD's are nice, but 128 GB is not remotely ideal especially when I could buy a 512 GB Samsung 960 Pro for $300 and still spend less than the purchase price of the Medion.

Guys what about the gtx1060 3Gb Vram, like the one in the msi GE62VR? I found a used msi on a retailing website (used but still under warranty)

Here in Tunisia, ou choices are very limited, for example, a lenovo would cost 800$ (around 2300 in local currency), Acer pretador helios 300 costs 1100(around 3300 in local currency), but it's not available here, and if it happens to import it, retailers would sell it for like 4500 just because it is a pretador laptop. That's a fu**ing rape off!!!

1060 3 GB is what I compared to the 1070 in my post above. It will play most games at 60 fps on high settings. 1060 3 GB vs. 6 GB is mostly a marketing gimmick. 3 GB of GDDR5 is plenty for 1080P gaming.
