Laptops

Hello all,

Hopefully off to university next year so I want to get a laptop before then.

Was wondering if any of you could recommend one. I've got a few ideas and the best one seems to be the HP DV6 1216 for my budget (Around £500/600).

AMD Turion 2.2GHz (Dual core)
ATi 4350 512mb
4GB RAM
320GB Hard-Drive

Not really bothered by hard-drive speed, but I would prefer it to be above 250GB. Want a decent graphics & processor which will run COD4 reasonably well on low / medium settings.

Laptop must be bought from a UK shop. Can't be arsed buying it abroad as its to much hassle.

Well I purchased a Dell Studio 15 in August and I am quite happy with it, runs cod4 and bioshock at a solid frame-rate, outdoes the ati2600 in my desktop (outdated I know). Anyway I suggest you check it out. I purchased it for use in University, couldn't be happier, except that when I ordered it I did not realize that the default black colour is glossy (I am not a fan of fingerprints), so I would choose one of the alternate colours even though they cost a bit extra. Mine is configured with a P8700 and a 500gb hd, but my 4570 only has 256mb

Well - the dell spec I was looking at was £529 (Specs shown above).

Is it worth spending an extra £60 for 4570......

In terms of gpus yes this will give you an idea about performance.
