Last run for a W3570

It's a 1.2v binned ES version. I only ever got it to 3.8, but don't remember how. If anyone has any ideas, chime in. Currently walked it up to almost 3.5ghz at stock 1.2, ran it hard, determined stable. I think I needed 1.28v for 3.8, and bunch of other tweaks. Save me some time so I don't have to hunt back for the settings! It doesn't seem to like 1.3v, but I could be missing something. This thing should do 4.5 easy. This is replacing my now dead 950 and Gene II, rip. But I think I'm done with x58, will be replacing this ancient stuff soon I hope.... for now I need this thing to rockit one last time.

It's not bad.... not pushing it yet, but just did game hard on it for a couple of hours, which I don't normally do. Max temps. I think I can still do higher, but it's a dam es chip.....

Thanks, I ran this about 2yrs ago, and I forgot how I did it. It's doing 3.7 stable at 1.3v. I think I got 3.8 at 1.28 somehow, but again, it's an es chip, who knows....

Should mention, I bumped up my buss so I could get 1700mhz ram speed. I have 1866 ram, I usually run it at 1750ish. My multi is of course unlocked, can do any multiple I want.

Hi i have a W3520 at 4ghz and i have a Asus P6T deluxe v2 and for run stable at 4ghz i used 1.325 or a little more in the bios for remain stable at 4ghz without go past 73°C .
Im using a Thermalright Archon first version so i could have pushed a little more with water cooling but im ok with it right now all thanks to the good thermal paste xd
My w3520 is a Revision D0 and i have read that i could push it to 4.4 ghz but i dont wanna risk with air XD.
In your case with the d14 that is dual tower you can push a little more if you have good airflow in the case too .

It's possible, not sure why I hit a wall at 3.8 before. Of course this chip is a C0/C1 es revision, so who knows. I will admit I used pretty much auto settings to
walk it up to 3.7, it set 1.3v on it's own. Not sure if I should mess with pll, qpi ect settings, or just try to walk it up a bit more.... so easy to just up the multi
another notch! I'm a bit nervous about it I guess after watching reboots and bluescreens for several weeks until I could rebuild this thing with a new psu.
Auto set qpi at 1.4, which I find a bit high, and my ioh and ich probably should be touched up...

Back to 3.8, have to test a bit more.... the extra temps are almost not worth it, but nice to have a semi-snappy system again:

It should do 4.2 pretty easy.

I used Miahallen's guide as a baseline..
..and had a lot of good info from guys on my team, too.
Bump up that ICH and put a fan on your NB sink.
I would say don't use the highest multi,either.
Set uncore as low as it will go..to begin with..
After you find max freq maybe try to bump it up

Yeah, keep forgetting to up the ich. I would like to hit 4 at 3.6vcore if I can. Auto puts it at 1.4, no way I'm running it at that. Even at 1.356v, max hard load temp is 74c, I'll never see that gaming, but still about my max for benching....

you could lower qpi/dram to about 1.37 or so probably..
If you're not going for super-tight timings probably less.

Oh..here's the big secret to higher clocks on 1366:
OC your PCIE..raise the voltages that have pcie in them some.

What does next RAM strap down yield?

I don't need to use straps really, I can change my cpu multiplier to anything I want, bus to anything, strap to anything. I guess if you mean selecting by strap, the next one is 1866 I believe, which will require very low multi, and a different bus speed? I'm going to have to go back into bios at look at that......

Still stable for now, going to go do a round of Wot. I'll try next step tomorrow. Want to see if I can do 4ghz stable on this cpu.

Really that thing is a 920 with a few extra multis..It probably won't like some of them.
I would keep the RAM between 1400-1700 since you're running 4 sticks.

Actually it's a 960 extreme, just a xeon, and unfortunately an es. It's still happy right now so guess it and my p6t are okay. I forgot why I didn't like pushing it though.... heat.
It should easily pass 4ghz, but I have to start digging into more settings to try and drop the heat output....

Well, I'm done. I was right the first time a couple years ago when I tried to oc this thing. 3.83 is max, by 3.88 it bluescreens no matter what I pump into it. Es chip. Dam!
Time to start saving for a new sb-e system. Well a used one, but whatever....
