Would you happen to know if these bios are compatible with a HD3850 AGP 512MB? I only ask because my card has the same vendor (1002) and id (9505) except that its a Powercolor 3850 AGP.

Yeah don't do it, the card will die

this bios is only for the ATI HD3850(256MB) with the standard ATI reference board

NO!!! Dont flash a PCIe BIOS on AGP. I know you want to... to fix the fan bug. But it will kill your card. Please go here repsol: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=58722
Actually just trying to find a fix for black screens and lost display device. I know the 8.4's were supposed to fix this but I can't use them as they will not allow me to overclock one single mhz. I use the 8.3 extremes and they work fine when I have my cpu chilled near freezing with my case temps hovering @18C. Since I watercool/waterchill I don't have any need to regulate my fans.

Hmmm, I'm kinda interested in this BIOS. I've been trying to get past 765MHz core, but ATi drivers keep crashing, although the card is stable, the drivers crash after about 10 seconds during 3D. RAM runs over 1000MHz just fine, no crashes, no artifacts.
Thinking it's all caused by an older BIOS, but I'm not sure.

Is there an updated 512mb version one? Would it work with my HIS IceQ3 HD 3850 512mb? Or does HIS use non-reference designs?

I have an HIS Radeon 3850 256MB also and it flashed fine on my card. I used ATIFlash and had to use the -fp flag. Other than that, the BIOS seems to be working flawlessly. The fan is now noticeably louder under load though but my temps are down 10-15 degrees.

You can use that BIOS, but ATIwinflash won't do it because of the CRC mismatch. You'll have to do it from DOS.
