Ok, I need to know what the hell the difference is here.

I can get a 22" LCD Computer monitor with HDMI inputs for around $220, in contrast, I can get a 22" LCD TV for around $350. That is a major price difference and I want to know why.

I am going to be getting a decent monitor soon, but I am also planning on getting an Xbox 360 too and the monitor will double as a TV and my main computer monitor, so I need to know what the deal is.

Depends.....monitors may not have speakers, internal tuner, etc....that may be where your price difference is coming from.

Just get the monitor adaptor for the 360 and a TV card if you want TV. The monitor will be better in the long run. I would only buy the TV if is was 30+"

That monitor has HDCP support and that is what you want.

Benchmark Scores Nyooom.
Monitor: higher resolution, usually HDCP/DVI

TV: sometimes only VGA/S-video, low resolution, has a TV tuner and usually speakers.

That about sums it up.

i was deciding between a 22" LCD and a 27" LCD TV, the LCD monitor is 1680x1050 while the TV was 1333x768 - thats a big difference for games, especially as most of them dont support the odd resolution.

I got my 22" widescreen monitor for $220. I then purchased a USB HD TV tuner for $50 bucks and I have a HD TV as well. The drawback is I don't have any HDMI inputs and am stuck with VGA or DVI. So, if you can get a 22" monitor with HDMI go for it!
I paid $799 shipped for my 32" 1080p LCD TV and it's wonderful!

Luckly, the Xbox Elite has work arounds for DVI users.

An LCD TV or LCD monitor are basically the same thing. The main difference is the input options, a TV comes with a tuner and most likely with input like HDMI, scart or whatever. A TV also has better speakers on average, though I doubt you'd be using those.

Choose your preferred resolution first, then whether TV or monitor.

For the extra spend, the speakers and the TV tuner are worth it. When you upgrade your monitor in 2 years time, you will still have a fully useable flatscreen TV.

But a monitor of 1920x1200 cannot be beaten for dektop use by a TV. TV's a limited in their x and y resolutions. So if you do a lot of PC work, get the hi res screen.

If you are considering a "low-res" monitor, like a 20", then I think a TV makes more sense.
