huh?

I'm w/ @bug , this has become a joke. All these companies announcing their flagships...that are in such low quantity they essentially don't exist.
huh he has a 6600k with a 1060 and is sidegrading to a 3600

this thread is like chinese wispers, told a dude that a 1060 wont max a 6600k and hence a 3600 will get the same fps
"He is/was making a statement more about how anyone can call themselves a video card manufacturer since there are no dies available to manufacture the card with..." wtf lol

WHERE in this thread did he say that? I'm with Nater here, I have no idea what you're talking about.

even if , he did or not say this... even a 3600 isnt fully a side grade, U get PCI-e Gen 4.0 (NVMes WOULD LOVE THIS GEN4 pci-e 4.0) 7000MB/c max Seq reads/ 6000 Writes Max on Gen 4 Saberent Rocket 4 Plus NVMe SSDs .. i have a 2TB Rocket 4 Plus (Phison E-18 Gen4 ssd controller!!!) very fast for single m.2 THATS AND UPGRADE In STORAGE Performance, 6600K only has Gen3.0 Pci-e, thats a downgrade

as long as u have a X500 (STX SFF) (IF ANY EVER GET MADE) / B550 / X570 u have at least 1x Hyper M.2 (Gen4.0 x4 slot) (any AMD chipset besides the X20 (500 series) Chipset ( and STX Borads dont have any chipset and rely just on the CPUs I/O Die / (or I/O in 1000 -2000 series Ryzen Chips) to provide th pci-e 3.0/4.0 depending on cpu, 1000/2000 ryzens only gen 3 / 3000 & 5000 ryzens are gen3 or gen4

Loooove the clean industrial look of them (as industrial as a gaming-focused card can get I guess).

Wonder if they're going to do their own Nvidia cards too.

Wow, that's a clunky-looking design. I liked the Radeon VII in its quasi-brutalist glory (even if the cooler was far too restrictive and thus underperformed), but this just takes that and makes a mockery of it. That huge chasm from the shroud to the fins just makes it look like they put a giant box around it. The rounded corners on the fan surround piece (can't tell whether that's just stamped into the metal or a separate piece like on the Fury cards) don't match the rest of the design whatsoever. The fact that you can see the glow from the R cube through the fin stack makes it look unfinished - put some mirror backing on that thing! And generally that boxy aesthetic doesn't work proportionally on a 3-slot card - it's just too big. It looks like a brick. The VII looked sleek due to its sharp angles; this looks heavy and massive.

Yeah, and in return, Lenovo even promised parity on laptop configuration offerings.
It still doesn't like like that is working though, which is an embarrassment, given how good 5000 series Ryzen is:

a) How on earth is this relevant to this thread? ThinkPad (and other Think products) is an entirely separate division from Lenovo's consumer divisions.
b) Where is that chart from? It's clearly inaccurate. The X13 and X13 Yoga both have AMD options. The P15s also does. AFAIK they haven't yet announced the 2021 refreshes of most of the other blue-only products, and some of them might not be refreshed until later this year due to how new they are (X1 Nano, for example).

How am I reading it wrong? It's pretty clear that the color of the field indicates the CPU manufacturer(s) available for that laptop series, as indicated by the Intel / AMD text at the top of the slide - i.e. an all-blue box means Intel only, all-green means AMD only, and blue/green means both. What I linked and summarized was several laptop series that are denoted by blue boxes in that chart, yet where Lenovo has announced that the upcoming 2021 models will offer both. So, as I said, the chart is wrong. Maybe it's based on what is currently available? If so, the title is wrong, as laptops available now in the Thinkpad series are all 2020 models, so calling it the "2021 portfolio" is quite misleading. The new 2021 models - AMD and Intel both - are mostly arriving in May. This is normal for all laptops, but enterprise laptops in particular. There is nothing to complain about here.

Lenovo has announced that the upcoming 2021 models will offer both.
That pic was created AFTER that claim, to point out lie.
"Offer both" in it is understood as "same config available", not "out of 8 models of that series, there is one possible AMD config"

So the chart is designed to be grossly oversimplified and misleading then? Got it. That's a great way of presenting your data. Besides, given that none of these are available at all yet, and that Thinkpads are highly configurable and come in various SKUs depending on your region, how can they even know? And they wouldn't spend the R&D money to create AMD motherboards for these laptops just for a single SKU per series. So maybe just chill out until these actually arrive and we can se how the situation actually is, and let us drop this amazingly OT discussion.

You got it wrong.

I'd thought grasping "same otherwise, pick CPU vendor of your liking" is a simple concept.

R&D money to create AMD motherboards
Nobody talked about reasons and excuses there, just about what is available.
Although, wait, Lenovo have promised things, no excuses attached:

Lenovo committing to bringing feature-parity between their AMD and Intel offerings

But again: is the chart showing what is currently available, or the 2021 ThinkPad lineup? Because those are two fundamentally different things. 2021 lineup means laptops launched in 2021. Those have yet to arrive, whether Intel or AMD based. And, as I pointed out, several of those that have both Intel and AMD options are marked in that chart as Intel only.

Now, again, can we please leave this stupid off-topic discussion alone? It literally has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, and for the life of me I can't understand why you brought it up in the first place.
