I tried an ultrawide last year as well. I liked the extra FOV, but modern monitors just don't interest me, which is why I was holding out for a LG OLED 40" 120hz someday... OLED is nom nom.

Yeah I don't even care about any TV/Monitor screen after getting the OLED CX :D, maybe after 4-5 years when there are significant improvement to OLED panel.

So who is going to explain to everyone, the marketing team rep and the Youtubers (BJ & HUB) that there is no 32Gx850 old models only 27Gx850 has older models. The only other LG models released in 32 1440p gaming is the (2020) 32GN600 & 32GN650 which are VA panels and not in the same zip code as IPS pricing.

The whole thing seams like it got lost in translation but since HUB said they been dealing with them for their LG products who knows.

HWUB: Shame on you LG for bribing
Also HWUB: Anyway, we made a long ass 20mins video about this so we can make some $$$$ off that ad-sense
In the end HWUB: Look at us! We did not take bribe and totally made loads of money

HWUB is one of the worst drama queens among the tech tubers. Constantly pushing their own bias to pander to their core audience through confirmation bias reinforcement. Never liked this lot and never will.
How dare youtube content creators actually monetize their work? They should make it for free, even though we pay nothing for just watching it, right?

RTings headphone ratings are very questionable. I agree that do a good job with many of their metrics but let's not pretend they are perfect either.

They are "influencers", not reviewers. HWUB is way too good at fanning flame and making drama to be considered as neutral reviewer

What they are isn't the point though Is it.

I heartily disagree with your opinion, but that's not the point either soooo OT.

Lg didn't know what was going to be said at any point and went full slime.

F#@k LG they're pr team are Sh#@.

Clearly.

These youtube channels still feel they not doing paid reviews, LG worded it as "additional compensation", which I think was the correct term, as they get the hardware free which makes it a paid/sponsored review, but the youtube reviewers really dont want to back down on that one. Note that LG didnt ask for the monitor back.

I have seen it time and time again, when a youtuber gets blacklisted or just doesnt get a sample for any reason, they can do "revenge" reviews where they buy the product and proceed to slam it. All youtubers will be aware the vendor is expecting sales from the review, it is a sales pitch, and at the same time they have to "appear" as neutral. Which is why bad points are always played down and most reviews come out positive, if there is an actual bad review, usually the entire review sector does it together so a vendor cant pick on one reviewer, I think it was a while back one of them revealed they show each other their reviews before they published. I use reviews for the data and technical notes, but not for the opinion.

I disagree as well. They are indeed reviewers. While their conclusions may include some editorial "drama", the review itself involves impartial and thorough testing of the products in laboratory environments for the purpose of confirming the product meets or exceeds published specifications, and/or to see how that product compares with other products in that same class of products.

The fact, is, I don't know of any review where the conclusion does not include some personal commentary from the reviewer. Even Consumer Reports, arguably the gold standard for review sites, concludes their reviews with personal comments.

As far as being influencers - of course reviewers are influencers too. Why bother reading a review if you don't intend to be influenced, one way or another?

Influencers, on the other hand, may not be true reviewers. That is, they are not experts, they don't "test" the products. They just "try" them out as a normal user would and report whether they like them or not.

I think it is safe to say, in general, genuine reviewers tend to be sites - and usually a team of experts who use established protocols and procedures to test the products under review.

Influencers tend to be individuals who have discovered, for whatever reason, that others like to hear their opinions. They are not experts at anything, but talking and listening to themselves talk.

HWUB Tim likely has way better monitors laying around if he wants one to use, in fact given how many he reviews he likely has too many about.

The shit your talking clearly tells me you hate tubertechs and clearly don't watch many reviews this way.

Somehow the written word is different, and less corrupted, wtaf.

Some of HWUb reviews stray a fair bit past negative as do gamers nexus.

Many sources, not one and not just the one who chats what you like is the way to asses your next purchase, your ways aren't for me.

I've seen it time and again ,some guy knows jack about something he has a pet peave over it, thinks the world's f#@£&@ stupid cos it doesn't flow his way and some try to create they're niche, you do you pal leave the general statements in your ass.

"These youtube channels still feel they not doing paid reviews"

They are not alone, I believe some aren't.

regardless of your opinion of them, its not cool for a company to try to bribe reviewers. its a shady practice and thats the real issue here. you keep that crap in the make-up cosmetics industry, stay out of our tech world with that non-sense. good riddance I say.
I think its very possible to be a lost in translation kind of thing
It might be payment for a review, not neccesarally a good review

Let me remind you, the brief overview from HWUB:
LG demanded editing rights over a review, offered to "compensate" us for the privilege, and admitted this was a plan to stop bad reviews because they hurt sales.
Nothing was "lost in translation".

Nah! These giant global corporations know how to speak English - probably better than most raised with English as their first language. Since they were formally trained in English since childhood, they were taught proper grammar and didn't learn from the "streets".

not only that, they hire a lot from all the western nations to boot, just because HQ is in South Korea doesn't mean all their employees are. not for these giant global companies. they are very diverse. they know better, that's why they backtracked so fast.

They're far ahead with panels. Monitors (as in finished products), not so much.
But then again, all monitors suck at 27" or more. Uniformity issues, half-assed (and I'm being generous) dimming... There's a reason professional monitors cost so much more than their consumer cousins.

I was seriously considering buying an LG OLED in a couple years. Don't think I will now. That's kind of pathetic. Seriously... they should have the self-awareness to know they can't get away with that crap with hardware unboxed.
LG Display and LG CN are two different companies. LG Display makes panels for like half the other brands, so even if you buy a dell, sony, etc. You're still buying an LG.

They were OKish a few years ago then something happened and they become horribly pro-AMD/anti-NVIDIA/Intel and it's been all downhill since then.
I always thought they where and fabois

LG is a giant freakin company with an entire division devoted to marketing and image. they knew better.
The issue is that LG is located in South Korea and I'm sure lots of the words where lost in translation going both ways.

When I was selling on ebay full-time, I was talked to many Chinese suppliers. Even though many of them spoke good English, some of the words I talked to them where slang. The word "out in the country", for me it means living outside the city where the farming community is. But in the US, people say the slang "out in the country" For most of the Chinese suppliers that I talked too, they understood, outside of the country, overseas.

So maybe hardware unboxed misunderstood the part for extra compensation.
