LGA775 suggestions for a forum Noobie

Hello all! my name is Gabriel and im new to this forum as you can see. im not too sure if there is a welcome section but i have a question as well. I have recently had a thing for lga775 setups because i had some laying around. Basically... my question is for someone to help me find a Micro ATX motherboard with quad core support, sli or crossfire support (that one is optional but preffered) but most importantly, a good overclocker and if that means no onboard graphics, so be it. I wont be using them anyways. I currently use a qx6700 in a micro atx asrock board micro atx case that i removed from a Bad axe 2 motherboard. I bench'd them both with intel burn test and was very concerned with my results. With the bad axe 2 and the qx6700 with the same exact ram ( i just moved it over to the asrock) i was getting 36 gflops for speed and after i switched the qx6700 to the asrock board with the micro atx form factor, i was getting 15 flops. I need a significantly better board to overclock with because this isnt cutting it, im using corsair ddr2 800 ram and it does great in my bad axe 2. thank you! any links and descriptions would be great! I have seen one board in particular that i cant find anywhere on sale like ebay or craigs or newegg, its a DFI lanparty micro atx with sli and 4 ram slots. pretty sweet! anything similar to this that i can still acquire is needed!

Welcome to TPU. I think Zotac has one of the better if not best S775 mini-itx options. Don't remember model offhand. There were less avail back then (in a market segment with many fewer options even today when they are somewhat "the rage").

You might ba able to find a 965 based Micro board, need to search.

I did a search for that and i wasnt able to come up with any results for what I am looking for but i appreciate it. The chipset is g31 + ich7. still on the lookout for a ddr2 Micro ATX LGA775 board compatible with the intel core 2 quad 45nm processors. Basically im looking to overclock as much as possible on AIR, and to my knowledge all boards overclock significantly worse if they have On Board Graphics which is most micro ATX boards. Again, any help is much appreciated!

If it's outside after 24 hours.

And it might be that the chipsets that have IGP's are worse overclockers, but I think you will hit a temperature wall on air before you'll notice. Also you'll use a discreet GPU anyway so it shouldn't matter too much. At least that is the impression I got when I had a G35 board, but I might be talking out of my arse on that one.

Also remember the CPU is probably more of a limiting factor. Yes Core 2 CPU's generally were beasts in that area, but they might not be. This board with an IGP did 540 FSB, while this DFI Lanparty jr P45-T2RS barely did 500 FSB (although they do say that other users have been much higher than that). It is a bit of a hit and miss anyway.

Ive heard of that Micro ATX P5E-VM HDMI board before and everyone pretty much said its the best there is in Micro ATX. Im bidding on one right now on ebay but i likely will lose haha tis the way of ebay. If anyone has any leads on one... maybe there is a for sale section in this forum ha

thank you! you guys are for sure the nicest forum ive visited and i visit quite a bit. I will read those rules before posting, im searching for a NON IGP Micro ATX board. cant seem to find any names or part numbers, anyone know any off hand i could search for? again a micro atx board WITHOUT integrated graphics so i can overclock better. but that HDMI Micro ATX board you guys showed me seems pretty legit as well

Check out the review I posted above (it's the second link in post #6). That review sample had rather "mediocre" overclock.

Good luck in your search. They were pretty rare to begin with (iirc), so it might not be easy to find one. And similiar boards (non IGP m-atx boards) are rare too. There is the Asus Maximus Gene II, look for that too.

DFI LP JR P45-T2RS LGA 775 Intel P45 Micro ATX Int...

There are no motherboards for the 775 socket that support both crossfire and SLI. AMD and Intel chipsets (P45 is a Intel chipset) only supports crossfire while you need a Nvidia chipset (650, 680, 740, 750, 780, or 790 chipsets) for SLI support.
