Actually, it's not just 30MHz because the air coled one generally doesn't hit 1600MHz consistently. With water, NexusGaming ha shown a stable 1700MHz at all times using modded AiO on top of Vega FE core.

At the cost of 400Watts.. four hundred! Worth mentioning :)

Only on the PCI-E connector though, when pcper tested they had about another 25W draw from the slot but that was stock though. When buildzoid tested I think he said he had 375W on the pci-e connector to get 1600MHz so at least nexus's hybrid card reduced leakage a little.

Read my post about tiling. Without it, you're essentially brute forcing through things. Well, no wonder it has 400W consumption at hardly performance of GTX 1080. Functional tiling should shave off 100W rather easily and bump the performance significantly. How much, no idea. But if it's already faster than GTX1080, you can get the idea. It still has the shader count advantage over GTX 1080 series and clock gap has closed dramatically from 1050MHz of Fury X compared to Pascal's.

That's only if you need those certified drivers.
Which was my point exactly.

I don't know why anyone would go defensive on this crap (comparing prof vs non prof pricing is BS), but...
You, perhaps, meant "gsync certified" or somethingelsenvidiaproprietarycertified? Cause... (AMD DOES get it's hardware certified, Vega will inevitably)
I'm not defending anything. But great, atleast I know that you don't know what you are talking about and do not read full posts.

I specifically wrote in FirePro as cards that gets certified. Vega FE does not receive them, which means that it is not positioned to face Quadros or FirePros at all. Vega FE is in some kind of developer limbo and is stuck in quite the niche market.

It's only the WX 9100 (or whatever they are gonna call it) that hopefully gets certified drivers.

Uh, no, not at all, AMD positions it as professional card which is exactly what quadros are.

Sure, link me some certified drivers for Vega FE. If they don't have them, they are not an option for the market.

What is the specific workloads where Vega FE is an all around better choice than a similar positioned Quadro (In the middle of P4000 and P5000)?

It seems obvious as to why the card is liquid cooled. It's gonna be another hot running card. Typically - A manufacturer tries to cut corners and save money wherever they can for a base model or reference card (hence the single blower reference models we have all seen many times over the years). So when a card is produced like this (Fury X anyone?), with this cooler and such a high power consumption - you know its gonna be running on the warm side.

As to its performance - it's all speculation at this point. I'm guessing slightly above a 1080. Reserve judgement until the gaming varieties come out and the drivers are given a chance to mature.

That's quite a markup for a water cooler, but this bad boy can actually maintain it's clocks, hence the reason it sucks down power like it's going out of fashion.

I assume people will start posting pictures of grills in the interest of fairness.

I was thinking more of RTG https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_thermoelectric_generator but since selling plutonium to users is illegal they got silicon to do the same thing, and it might pump out some graphics too. Just make sure not to give it too much power or it might go prompt critical and kill everyone in a five block radius.

Nobody's interested in this product other than the few hundred prosumers out there. at 1500 USD, this thing is a total rip off.

I hope everyone knows this is a workstation card, and not a gaming card. While this card can be used to game on it isn't what it was designed to do. Most workstation cards don't have the performance to game on. This has always been the issue if you were a designer and a gamer. Also, 1500 is cheap for what this card does for design work.

And it's the hardware review press that created this clusterfuck by treating Vega FE as gaming card, just because it was the first real physical Vega thing. I've never ever seen such massive drama around any older AMD professional cards or even NVIDIA ones. It's where there was never a problem. So, HW press created this out of sheer ignorance and eagerness to test Vega...

. muppets in forums doing it, :)
The "muppets in forums" are the ones who make and break world records with clocks and benches and they are the ones who have taken performance to the next level and have even designed some of the most used performance aiding add ons available to this day! It has been this way through out the existence of TPU....just saying ;) You do remember ViperJohn right?

If he did anything like what you described, he probably wasn't a "forum muppet."

I'm a forum muppet who grew press skills. Hai.

If you didn't quote me, I would wonder if this was a reply to my post. I am not sure what this has to do with anything. I was responding to Rej RE: Vega.......lol

World record holders have nothing to do with the populous speculating cluelessly about V:frontier as a gaming card....

Unfortunately, a lot of people neglected to read the product page on Radeon's website. It's heavily marketed to developers as anyone who takes a minute to read will find out. For those who haven't checked it out yet https://pro.radeon.com/en-us/product/radeon-vega-frontier-edition/.

No one should buy this overpriced paperweight for gaming.

And it’s not meant for gaming either.. let’s wait for RX Vega and see what it can do

Neither does red stitching on leather car seats for $6000 and yet people still pay for it. Or why Intel uses shit TIM when solder is just 15 cents more per CPU?

SHots fired! Call the AMDbulance!:D
