Liquid cooler, which one to choose?

I've compiled a list of liquid coolers that cost about the same (in Italy):
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 ARGB
Deepcool Castle 280EX
Mag CoreLiquid 360R
Deepcool Castle 360 RGB v2
Cooler Master ML360R

I would prefer RGB, so I would avoid the Deepcool Castle 280EX

Which of these should I buy?

If you have any other ideas let me know so I can check prices in Italy.

The Arctic, 240 up to 360mm. I have all three sizes in use and they're great.

Not knowing what CPU is being cooled is decidedly unhelpful however I would favor the Arctic Liquid Freezer myself.

That's a 105W TDP part, it can be adequately cooled by a 240mm AIO cooler.

Naturally a bigger radiator will provide more cooling and thus the fan speeds will be lower. Do you care about acoustics?

The other main consideration is AIO radiator placement. If you are top mounting the radiator, pick what AIO cooler you want.

If you are front mounting the AIO radiator, you need to figure out if the tubes are long enough to reach the CPU if the AIO radiator is correctly mounted with the tubes at the bottom and the radiator top above the level of the CPU cooling block.

This depends on your PC case (more information unhelpfully omitted) and GPU length. Some AIO coolers' tubes might be too short. You'll have to figure this out yourself by doing some measuring inside your case (with the GPU mounted) and comparing the measurements with the specifications for each AIO cooler.

I would also consider AIO radiators from Alphacool. It doesn't hurt to check prices.

Is there much difference between the 240 and the 360?

5900x on B550 Unify
Very much so, especially with high cfm aftermarket fans in push/pull.

I don't really care about the noise.
The Alphacool Eisbaer LT360 and LT240 are priced in line with the coolers listed above, but are not RGB.
The Aurora versions on the other hand are a bit overpriced.

Very much so, especially with high cfm aftermarket fans in push/pull.
Thanks a lot for the feedback :D

So I would say that in conclusion I should buy the Liquid Freezer 360.

Excellent choice, that is a fine AIO cooler. I have the non-RGB version myself, now sadly sitting unused since I moved to a custom cooling loop.

I hope you enjoy it!

The EK AIOs are manufactured in China albeit designed in Slovenia.

OP is from Italy. Italy and Slovenia are two very, Very, VERY different countries.
Right. I'm just saying the EK units are shipped from EK offices/warehouses in Italy. I've received 4 of them direct from Italy.

The location of a shipping warehouse/business presence does not change a product's country of origin.

That would be like calling a Chanel handbag bought at the Beverly Hills boutique "Californian" or an iPhone 12 Pro purchased at Apple Piazza Liberty as "Milanese."

Obviously. That argument holds true for MOST all AIO's. There are still levels of quality and quality assurance that are paid for in chinese factories and in opening the boxes from several of the top AIO's on the market, the EK's are visibly superior to Arctic, EVGA or Alphacool. I'm not sure what your point is though. Maybe I'm missing something?

As for staying on topic, I was letting the OP know that he could order EK products directly from EK offices in Italy. That was all.

Look, I know that the TDP numbers given by Intel and AMD are largely marketing constructs to help consumers decide what range of cooling solutions are viable candidates. They aren't exact measurements. There are plenty of long-winded articles (like one from GamersNexus) that explain what TDP is and isn't.

Remember also that what happens at the wall is irrelevant to this discussion because the CPU isn't the only component in a case that is consuming power. One of my builds with a 5600X maxes out at 105W PPT (because that's where I set PPT in the BIOS) during Handbrake encodes and Cinebench C23 benchmarks. On the other hand, my overclocked GeForce 2070 SUPER will easily hit 235W.

There are plenty of other components inside a PC case that use power, not least of all are the fans on the CPU coolers themselves. Using wall power draw is not a particularly valid data point for selecting a CPU cooling solution.

Well, I'm not sure about your point in mentioning the origin of EK. It would have been less confusing if you simply stated that you have opened a bunch of top-tier AIOs and from visible inspection, the EK units appeared to be high quality.

I don't write for tech sites, I don't get to evaluate samples. I look at online reviews with a skeptical eye and try to make thoughtful decisions based on reputation, both the manufacturer and any reviewer.

However, I have also purchased a fair number of cooling products over the years (my first custom build was in the late Nineties) with my own money (no media samples).

I find that Alphacool products have generally higher QA than EK. I've also used in the past few years AIOs from Cooler Master, NZXT, Arctic, and EVGA. From my personal perspective, I suggested Arctic and Alphacool.

That is all. As we all know, the number of units that we have all opened up are not a statistically significant sample size. Particularly for AIOs and product availability lifecycles, it is difficult for anyone to review a product based on reliability as well.

If you think I shouldn't be sharing my opinions on brands that I have actually used, just let me know and I will delete my TPU commenter account.

Your call, you're a moderator. I'm just a random schmuck.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I just have experience with many of the best AIO options out right now. My point in mentioning the EK was simply wanting him to know that he had more options than he initially thought since EK products could be purchased in his home country. I think Alphacool and Arctic make fine products. If you check out the link below you'll find why I believe the EK is the best of the available options. I really should update it because over time I've noticed additional things that should be included in that quick and dirty comparison plus I've had a EVGA CLC unit running on another rig that I can add to the comparison.

The numbers I quoted were from running Linpack Xtreme. I have software to show me what is going on inside, and I have hardware to show me what is going on at the wall.

I had several AIO's in the past. Some was good, some isn't. Recently i purchased Artcic liquid freezer ii 280 and 360 for two different pc's (after reading many good reviews) and all i have to said they are by far best AIO on market today, both in terms of performance and sound. I disconnected small VRM fan feom both units, and plugged separately fans for more control. Im running 280 @ 35% locked pump and max fans @ 65% (almost inaudible) for ryzen 3600 temp are 70c max on cb20, gaming 55 - 60 max. 360mm is paired with ryzen 5800x, pump locked @ 55% and fans max @ 65%. Cb20 81c max, gaming hover between 60 and 68c. Both top mounted. Temps drop by couple deegres if i speed up pump and fans, but only insignificant amount, but at my current speeds noise is almost unexistant, and i trade 3c better temps for less noise.

I suggest to all my friends to buy ALF II cause its is chamipon in almost all categories from performance, noise to price.

Just be sure to check the leakage warranty, find one that would pay for any components damaged due to the AIO's leakage.

Excellent choice, that is a fine AIO cooler. I have the non-RGB version myself, now sadly sitting unused since I moved to a custom cooling loop.

I hope you enjoy it!
If you still have that Arctic 360 and want to part with it shoot me a PM, I can put it to good use.
