Seems like it's clamped down onto the latch, I wouldn't worry.

Thank you , yeah it seems , but what the hell is happening anyway ? It could be just a bad Motherboard or PSU design ??
Probably neither of those, 24pin ATX connectors are clunky and really need updating which they will be with the new 12v only spec PSU that is starting to gain traction with OEM's firstly and will likely be adopted as the new standard across the whole industry, the 24pin will be replaced with a much more slender 10pin connector (irrc) which represents something more akin to a motherboard USB header than the current 24 pin ATX block connector that we are all familiar with, and about time too, though as long as it's locked in place and there isn't too much tension being caused by bending or pulling the connector/cable too far then you have nothing to worry about.

good to know, well I connected the components before assembling in the box and the cable almost didn't want to leave the motherboard, it took a lot of persistence and strength. I was about to give up and take it to a store: D, it looks like it´s secure , but it seems that something is not right when I see that small spacing, it makes me a little uncomfortable despite it working.

connector may be working but is not fully seated
try and get it seated all the way it can take a fair bit of force to seat them

I've had that on many different boards and PSUs. As long as the connector's latched on and it's not loose enough to random slide back out, you're fine. Happens a lot with 24-pins on custom sleeved cables.

Often times it just won't go in any further. And if you try to push in one side at a time, the other end just comes back out that much so you don't get anywhere.

From the first picture, it does look like it hasn't engaged the latch yet, though. Maybe try to coax it a bit more, but keep your fingers under the board right underneath where the 24-pin is so you don't encourage bending in your board.

I tried , believe me I don´t have any more force , I was thinking my fingers would start to bleed .

I think I don´t have more force , but I can try once more :(

Put one hand beneath the motherboard so it won't break, with the other hand push the connector down until it clicks.
Hope he hasn't room to put a hand in, should be about 0.5cm at best

well I did it , so f*ck you 24 pin cable !!! hope that this cable will be soon replaced with something else ... thank you all !!

There is a reason why the 24-pin ATX header is on the edge. So you could support the motherboard with your fingers while plugging it.

thank you very much .

but what the hell is happening anyway ?
You tell us. Is your computer working fine?

Do note now that when excess force is required to fully seat a connector, excess force is often required to remove it. I've seen solder joints break from excessive rocking and wires pulled out of connectors by overexuberant users. :( BTW, a little rocking end-to-end is fine. Any rocking side-to-side is not.

There is a reason why the 24-pin ATX header is on the edge. So you could support the motherboard with your fingers while plugging it.
I sure wish the ATX Form Factor industry standard dictated the placement of the 24-pin connector. And also that it required having a couple standoffs with corresponding motherboard mounting holes on either side of the connector too. I've seen some motherboards where the connector is located some distance away from the edge, often by several inches, making completely seating the connector - without putting undue stress on the board - a nerve racking task. :( Assembling the components outside the case on a breadboard can make that easier, but then often involves a juggling act to put the board with a connected PSU inside the case. Oh well.

In a similar discussion in another thread, @Chrispy_ showed us a neat little support gadget he some times uses when connecting stubborn main connectors. I think if you have enough room in the case, using something like that is a good idea.

Yes it is working fine thank you , you have scared me now xD , I think I will never touch the damn cable again only if I have to take it off sone time then .

I pushed with the same force used before but with the pc layed down , so it was easyer than before . I only have removed it once before connecting all other cables just to make sure the PSU was working , since that never removed again only have pushed more now to make the connection fully , as most of people here and otger foruns that I made the same question suggested was not fully in ....

I certainly didn't mean to scare - just make you aware. But frankly, it is all common sense. We should never pull on the wires when unplugging any connector. As for rocking, those connector sockets are anchored to the motherboard with 24 solder joints. So it does take some considerable force to break them.

Well I try to not pull any connector on the wires .

I think [hope] that is something all of us are taught as children.

What you want to say with that ?
My fingers typed the wrong word! ;) It should have been, "I think [hope] that is something all of us were taught as children. "
