I'm not really sure where to post this, but since it might require a specific set of software; I thought this will be the right spot.

After the Facebook debacle, I wanted to see what Google had stored on me. I downloaded everything and extracted it. My location history, to my surprise, is in json file format. All I see is source code which is not very helpful. I am trying to view it like an actual map, but there's no program that I know of that can do it. How do I view the file?

I have never had a Facebook, but how exactly do you do this Google thing to see what all the info it has on you? I'm just curious lol

JSON is a plain text file using brackets to tie associated data together and strings (literals) are surrounded with quotes. If you're looking for something specific, use ctrl+f in the document to find keywords.

You can just use google maps timelines to find out what google has on your location history.

"locations" is calling a class, "timestampMs" is a member name, and "1521580877981" is its value (likely milliseconds since January 1, 1970).

{} encloses a class
: separates names from values
[] encloses an array
