I guess his graphics card got fired..

Well, it's easier to spot one negative comment than ten positives, like always. But once again, EVGA? Why this reminds me of the 1070/1080 problems they had..

Showing pictures of the card taken apart, their could used this as a excuse.

EDIT: Waiting for this to hit Reddit/Nvidia thread.

It may be, but VRMs on cards catching fire isn't new- especially for evga.
Strange that the card caught fire w/o any of the PCIE 8pin power connections plugged in?

It looks like, If you bought a RTX card it should have came with one fire extinguisher in the box.

Look at the user comment in that link what NUKEDUKEM is saying. He's saying CEO Jensen Huang said “ it just works”. I'm really starting to believe this.

all right, let's not get all fired up. I'm sure Nvidia has a Plan B cooking on the back burner, they just need to fire up an excuse ,or reason why this anomaly occurred. Hopefully the refund and compensation process is quick for this poor customer, I'm sure this situation will light a fire under in nvidias butt

Good point, i am wondering how could it be possible if there wasn't any power source
plugged in

Does the actual video show the same thing?
I should hope not, unless they've hacked their card to boot with 45w (ish) being drawn from the pci slot, which is unlikely as a card wouldn't boot normally with the power connectors out

You could easily solder a couple of wires onto a VRM power stage and shove many volts/amps through it. I guess if you want attention more than a working 1080 it makes sense lol

Power must be coming from the PCI slot & you can burn tracks to a point where flame can appear just by using the PCI slot. If you remove any external power source from a GFX card it should not damage it.

Exactly.

It doesn't makes senses to me at all
Yeah looks like a baity thumbnail, however the sc2 1080 has been known for "catching fire" and the VRM seems to be the culprit and the 2 slot wide cooler doesn't cope well with the heat output

If the card already has short circuit internally, if it is using the PCI power plane, then this can happen. So if he had plug in both 8 pin power leads the result would have been the same. The fault does not need to be the main VRMs, it could be something else.
