Well in my second rig i've a rather dated E5300 thats been running sweet at 4.1ghz,12x,1.48v for almost 2 years now. Back when i first set this oc i thought its quite extreme & there was a good chance this little E5300 might not last to long. But what the hell it wasnt expensive.
Two years down the line & many hours of gaming & general use this little cpu still runs like new.
Cupple of weeks ago i pushed the oc even higher  Ive now got this E5300 @ 4.35ghz,12x,1.61v thats the max i cud get with it still stable running games & benchmarks. It now cracks 21 gflops in intelburntest & 17 seconds in winprime :)

& its stopping at that now till either i get round to upgrading or it dies

Had an E8500 @ 4Ghz w/ 1.3~ Vcore for about 2 years. Still ran like brand new when I sold it. Curious how long it would have kept going.

my chip is still fine after 3+ years, 1 at 3.2 ghz and the rest at 3.4 or .6. Still doing fine. I wished i could say the same for my board though. It won't shut down whatever you do, had a thread about it here, no-one seemed to have a clue. Now is it related to oc'ing? Who knows? I've got p3's and p4's and celery d still kicking around doing fine.

I had a E5200 running 3.9Ghz at 1.5v which degraded in about 5 months and would no longer hold a stable OC at those settings. I sold it shortly after because I moved to a Q9650, so I do not know how much farther it would degrade, but it can definitely happen. Note that my temperatures were always low with that chip since it always sat with proper cooling and it degraded nonetheless.

Im not backing this E5300 off as so far its been stable. I need to thrash this little dual core so its not bottle necking my twin HD4870's

As it only cost £55 new over 2 years ago i'll not be losing sleep if its starts to degrade or even dies.

Understandable. This is the exact reason why I kept pushing my E5200 back then (it ran with a Sapphire HD4870X2). They're cheap enough not to care anyway.

I had my E8400 @4.0Ghz for almost two years with 1.45v, the computer would be on for days sometimes, even in the hottest days of the summer, it ran for a few days with no fan, just my bare Thermolab Baram; all this with no issues. I now have my Phenom II X4 965 with 1.567 in the BIOS (1.537 idle in Windows) with no problems so far, mind you it's been like this only three months, I hope it lasts! :D

From what I know Phenom IIs are supposed to handle 1.55v. Intel chips, not so much.

I had my old PDC e6300 at 3.77GHz on stock volts (1.272v IIRC), I think it was a x13 multi. Now I wish I chucked some extra voltage through it...
Sir_Real if you ever want to trade that chip, you know where I am

That chip of yours runs 4GHz on stock voltage with a shitty board it went in to (750i) that hates clocking anything lol

Also, get on xfire lol

never had a cpu actually fail from overlcocking, typically for me the clock was either stable or it wasn't. at a stable oc I haven't really noticed degradation but I do run seperate 24/7 clocks from extreme benching clocks for comfort.
