Looking for a case to complete rig...

I really can't explain what I'm looking for, but I'll try.
I'm looking to buy a mid-full tower case, preferably a mid tower because I don't like huge cases.
Does anybody have any case recommendations?

I'll be going with either one of these rigs.

Coolermaster CM690! :rockout:
Got to be the best mid tower case out there IMO.

I'm not willing to blow over $75 on the case though!

But your willing to spend $42 on an Asus CPU cooler? Buy a decent case and use it for many, many years/builds.

HDT-S1283 is a fantastic cooler. Will out perform the two you said.

And you have actually put the Xigma in your list under fan anyway

I put the 1284EE, would your S1283 outperform it?

Fans are different from heatsinks right?

The only case to own is a coolermaster centurion CAC-t05

But does this one have slots for MMC/SD / Memory Stick/PRO?

the centurion hase front usb x2 firewire x1 and mic and headphones jacks...if you want to add a card reader you can buy aftermarket ones that fit in the cd or floppy bays and run off the usb headers on your motherboard..you can get these card readers on ebay for next to nothing

edit: you can really hook into the t05...its way fun to mod .... http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/1597.html ....

So you want to take your Quad to 4GHz, your using AIR cooling and you want to buy a cheap case? Am I the only person who sees no logic in this?? :banghead:

You really expect to be able to maintain respectable temps on that Q with a $25 case with poor/no airflow and you don't plan on modding said cheap case yet you still want to OC your quad (aka space heater)? I think your in for a shock.

Don't put a system together like the Intel one listed above and then turn into a tightass when it comes to a case...it makes absolutely no sense and to be honest is a little retarded.

The cases above (Centurion & 690) are both solid cases if you decide to get one...just don't go cheap and regret it. :toast:

Guess I'll go for the Coolermaster Centurion 5. (The one with a clear side of course!)

also, the xigmatech coolers mentioned in this thread are some of the best CPU heatsinks available, are better than both those ASUS coolers you listed, and are less expensive than those coolers you listed.

that xiggy and a 120mm fan mounted behind the mesh of the lower three bays in a to5 will cool quite well... the issue with that case is all in the graphics cards...try to get a card with a cooler that circulates air rather than something that flows out the back...ie the crossfire setup i pictured a few posts back is not ideal...the gallery link with the zalmans on my old sli rig is win.

Okay, I'm relatively new to this.

Are cooling FANS different than CPU HEATSINKS?

If so, the 1284EE I listed is a FAN and not a HEATSINK right?

(My first custom build, still a nubbie.)

No the 1248EE is a heatsink. You attach the fan to the heatsink for extra performance. That heatsink is one of the best heatsinks out there.

like I said in a prior post, the 1284 is a heatsink that comes with a fan. If any heatsink will keep a CPU cool at 4 gig, the 1284 will.
