Looking for a Quality Headset

So I'm looking for a good quality headset, price isn't much of a factor as most headsets are definitely under the $200 range right?

I game a lot, especially first person shooters, so enemy location is important for me.
I have the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty soundcard, uhm, what else... I occasionally listen to music, but have a 5.1 speaker config for heavy music listening so it's not as important and I use ventrilo to talk to my team mates usually.

I hear TurtleBeach headsets are some of the best on the market, but I wanted to verify that with you very helpful posters on TechPowerup

You might listen to some of the sound coming from the sennheisers, they are awesome. Haven't compared them to other brands though (I don't have a good ear when its down to sound quality)

and I want to make sure that I am getting the best for my money, though I'm sure the Sennheisers wouldn't disappoint (very pricy though )

If only they could let you listen to the sets at least once before you buy, it'd be cool! You could then directly compare a few of em before making a decision! They are a respectable brand though, so as long as you take your time and know what to expect, you will be fine.

The pricing for the turtle beach looks agressive though, $79 looks good in my book. But the sennheiser looks really badass gotta admit. I like the ways its designed, that would fit my ears well (have problems with the ones that squeezed the ears, hurts em after extended use)

I've looked into the Sennheiser's at newegg ($130.00) - not as pricey as the suggested retail price on Sennheiser's website ($250!)
But apparently, they won't give you the sound you want without a headphone amp - pretty surprising, but also impressive haha - most are using the HT Omega Claro Halo (only $250... haha)

are there quality headsets at a cheap price that are better than most? To many crappy headsets have broken on me to really feel confident about it..

if you do get the RX700s or RX900s, make sure you do the felt mod and the foam mod, and maybe a dampening mod

These Headphones, with the mods, are simply awesome! The mods are not hard at all, I have done them to my cousin's headphones because he didn't have the guts too, and now they are awesome! And I am not good at all in doing stuff like that lol

So all in all, sound quality is more then acceptable without mods, but with mods are nothing short of awesome... Build quality is pretty good too, though the RX-900 with ALL mods becomes very heavy, but can be easily dealt with if you skip some of the optional mods

Would anyone recommend just some solid head phones with an attachment mic over any headsets on the market?
What would be the best mic/headphone combination? say, $250 limit just for giggles.
