Hey everyone,

I have a GF 6800 XT 256MB DUAL DVI TV PCI-E video card and it hacked. My kid gave this card and I didn't know that he got it from one of his friends, sure his friend!!!! It ruined my 4 hard drives and GF GT 610 video card. I manage to research and figure out that my video card was hacked and I see no external mods so it must be software. I fixed GT 610 by flashing the BIOS with the collection TECHPOWERUP provides and now I searching for PV-T42E-UDE3 BIOS that is not available in the collection. Can someone help me find BIOS or can I upgrade BIOS with ones available in the collection? Where do I go to find info on VBIOS that is compatible with my video card?

You have to go into unverified portion of bios files

Sounds like a power supply/powergrid or motherboard problem

GPU bios: contact your card's manufacturer if it is not in the unverified section of the GPU bios database, they may send you a bios for it.
Mini rant:
I would say it's not outside of possibility that some malware could be loaded into a card's bios especially if it's got unused flash space, however that would take a whole lot of effort that's just not worth it. My bet would be that the 12V that's used in both the card's power and the sata power either dipped too low or was too high and chances are it would have taken both the 6800 and your drives. Probably not the cards fault, but the fact that your 610 got messed up in that mix is a little confusing considering it should only use mobo power.

Thanks for the quick replay. My version of the 6800 card is not available in the unverified section. I'll try the to contact the manufacturer for the bios. The reason I believe HHDs got infected when I swapped video cards (6800 to 610) and HHDs were attached and the 610 started acting funny and not booting. Once I flashed 610 video card and wiped HDD with the manufacturers' software all was okay. MOBO is working fine and so is power.

The only issue with that is hard drives do not directly interact with the gpu, meaning that if your drives got infected it would most likely have been through something already on your machine or a different external device like a usb key.
