Looking for good on all the time backup drive?

Hi,

Looking to build a backup drive enclosure combination for the Server at work and considering the WD NAS or the Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives.
Read that these drives are meant for raid and don't have the cache to prevent write errors though which is a concern but want the drive to be
durable and able to stay powered on all the time. Also looking for a good enclosure that has a fan to keep it cool. Thinking of this one:

Why raid?
just use one drive as a back, then use sw to clone the drive regularly.
i just dont like the idea of having to deal with a raid when it comes to issues/data loss.

No I don't want to do raid. I want to put one and only one into a usb enclosure. The problem is the description of the NAS type drives say they are made specifically for RAID and lack some sort of cache or something that buffers data such that in single use scenarios would work but not ideal. Obviously I want a drive that can handle being on all the time. Don't want a consumer level drive. So my choices are the RED NAS drives considering it wont be used in a live installation anyhow or the Surveilance drives.

Yeah don't believe half that shit they say as the WD RED NAS or Seagate for that matter HDD's used SMR on writes so no good for RAID arrays but as a single HDD in an USB dock they're fine I'd go WD over Seagate though and I'd go WD Black not red better read/write perf than Reds

WD purple are good, they're meant for surveillance systems which are on all the time. WD red are also a good choice, they're for servers with high volume traffic 24/7 use. My go to for hdd's is wd black. I have good experience with them.

Not interested in performance. Just longevity. Will go with purple drive then. Thanks

Just read the RED drive lineup is flawed and WD is being sued for using inferior tech in their lineup for using SMR. So much for the REDs.

Went with the Ironwolf line. Dedcription sold it as an 'always on' drive. That made the sale.
